3v3 - I understand the reasoning for sending an engineer free when I threatened to cancel - it just seems that they generate more bad will by the initial refusal.0

Morning all, I just have to share this. A large box was delivered a little while ago, with Interflora blazened all over it; I was sure it had been delivered to the wrong place so checked the name, but no, it was for me! I tried to think who would send me flowers and came up with zilch:rotfl: but it turns out that it is a from a competition I entered, can't recall which one, and it is the most beautiful basket of poinsettias and white roses. So beautiful I almost cried. Just stunning.
I did a little dance.
edit: just had the email to advise me, and was told the company upgraded the prize from a poinsettia to a basket worth £50.
How lovely well done:T:TDMP Support Thread Number 1860 -

Hello Everyone
sammy-kaye thank you for your kind offer of the book for DS1. Thankfully his resit is at 1pm and then he is done with "Of Mice and Men" for good I hope.
Congrats on your win Byatt The flowers sounds lovely and it is such a boost getting a win isn't it
I made it to the gym yesterday and followed the instructions given to me by Scott and did 35 minutes on the treadmill. Thankfully my calf muscles have recovered from Aquafit and I can now walk up and down the stairs without wincing. I need to fit in another gym visit sometime over the weekend, but I'm sure I'll be glad to escape for an hour.
This morning I've made a batch of banana muffins to put into the freezer so that I have something to snack on instead of raiding the biscuits. I was planning on making oat/banana/dried cranberry muffins, but I'm all out of bicarb. So I'll make those tomorrow after a trip to Mr S. I got the dried cranberries in Poundland instead of paying £1.80 in Tesco. I like adding them to flapjacks as well.
Tomorrow is DS1's 16th birthday. I have to say that I have no idea where the time as gone and can't really get my head around the fact that my baby is old enough to get married with permission. His plan for his birthday is to play on Skyrim with a pile of mince pies next to him and coffee and pizza delivered at regular intervals.
I'd better go and make something for lunch and decide what to cook for dinner before my friend visits.
Take care everyone xxxx0 -

I've frozen/defrosted and used buttermilk in cakes, pancakes, muffins, curries etc with no trouble at all.

Thanks for the tip about keeping in touch with 'connections'. It's been a week so we'll hopefully hear something soon.
We seem to be waiting by the phone an awful lot, I have been away from UK for many years but I'm suprised how things have changed and there doesn't seem to be the same efficiency. The school DD15 applied at they never called back. We ended up waiting weeks for them. The college DD19 applied at never returned her calls. I had to go down with her in the end and see head of admissions. They made her take an entrance test because she was home ed, which was fine but then they managed to mix up her results with someone elses, then rather huffily told her a week before christmas that she failed and woud have to go back and do GCSE's. DD19 was not a happy bunny, but we managed to persuade her to do the GCSE's along with her chosen course, all the while I could not quite believe she failed. I know - I was her tutor and she'd finished her education when she was 16 and spent 2 years travelling and working. Though not a scholar she was always very quick. I finally called up head of admissions to query it and she said no she definitely failed, but she would double check it anyways. It hung over our heads all over christmas. DD19 finally went in last week to be told breezily she did pass all the tests with flying colours it was just a mix up, and she could go straight onto a level 3 course! She was then told by her tutor she could not do the course she wanted to do as it was not a fulltime course. By this time DD19 has learnt to do her own research and pulled out the college prospectus she had on her and showed her where the course was listed as fulltime and asked 'could you explain to me what this means then?' to which the tutor responded 'well yes, thats a bit misleadng I admit'!! Now they are telling her she cannot do 2 fulltime courses which she wants to do (each fulltime course is a day and a half a week!) - the saga continues...No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!0 -
Well done BYATT on your win.
SHANDYCLOVER: I have just tried the bicarbonate/water so shall see if it works for me. Thank you for that. I do have loads of 'empty' tubes of face wash and exfoliant that DC threw away. I tell them that you can get a few more goes out of it if you cut the tube. But, after trying the evoo didn't want to undo any good by putting chemicals on. Don't know if I am being daft or at my age it will make any difference anyway.
SAMMYKAYE: Isn't the Y or W a vowel in the Welsh Language? I think it may be the W that is pronounced more like 'ur'.

Well just to throw a spanner in the works a village near me is called Cwmafan and that 'W' is pronounced as a 'U' but the whole word gets pronounced as !!!-a-van so think it depends but either way as soon as I say Im in Wales they have to get me to spell it. The street I live in is one word, has 11 letters and only one is a vowel.Time to find me again0
