Katieowl - the hospital should have a PALS give them a call and explain what has happened, they should be able to help.

Oooh, I'd love to do Jury Service, I think it would be so interesting. DH got called once many years ago but wasn't eligible as he'd worked at a court too recently, but I've never been called.

Sorry to hear about your DH's experience Kate, it's appalling.

Do any of you ladies using evoo, still exfoliate and do you use natural products for that?

Started using it a couple of weeks ago and at first my skin was lovely and soft but it now feels really rough. I seem to remember something about using porridge oats for exfoliation, or sea salt but don't have any of that, only table salt. I don't use the castor oil only the evoo. Esther x

    .

I do the oil-cleansing thingy and seems to work really well for me. If I feel the need to exfoliate now and again I use a half teaspoon or of baking soda mixed with a little water in my hand, as taught to me by a venazuelan friend. It sounds harsh but I have sensitve skin and its fine honest.

Thanks Saratoga, I may in futue plague you with college questions. We've had a very difficult time finding a school for our youngest, and the college said they wouldn't take her till she was 16. Ironically she turns 16 three weeks after the college term begins. Anyways out of desperation had a chat with the nice people at 'connections' and they are going to approach the college on our behalf - fingers crossed.
No buying unnecessary toiletries 2014. Epiphany on 4/4/14 - went into shop to buy 2 items, walked out with 17!

Well today I shall end up looking like popeye

Went to work last night and was doing my reducing and being stalked by the biddy patrol and low and behold 3 x 600ml tubs of double cream needing whoopsied! so I staked my claim on two of them quick sharpish and think me and Ben will have a go later with one of them. I say me and Ben but realistically Ben may get bored and I will end up doing it - plus hes learning about 1940's etc and I can tell him about how they made butter and its something practical to teach him I guess and he can go to school and tell his teacher. At least I know he'll never be hungry if he knows how to bake bread and make butter cheaply!

Stupid question alert though - can you freeze buttermilk or am I best to get scone making today too?
do I have to wash the butter? couldnt see the answer, and how long does it keep for?

Apart from that Im determined to get my butt in gear and rearrange the kitchen today. Fancy doing some bread making etc.

Also my health eating is going well - Owen on the other hand refuses to weigh himself and is gaining and brought home three packs of small cakes which his mate got as a tip from the nice bakery lady but his friend doesnt have a sweet tooth. so no doubt owen will eat them.

Oh and bargain I won a £10 on the lottery =)

VJ's mum - half of Wales cant say llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch ~ I am a rarity though :p I can say it. So can Ben and in fact me and Ben speak more welsh than my partner and his family! I've been here 12 years, Ben is 7 and Owen has lived here almost 20 years and his dad grew up in the village we live in. Ben even goes to the same school his grandad went to and his great aunts and uncles all live int eh same village - its very much the whole village is related here somehow but I love it.

Although Bens favourite word (and Denise In Devons!) by far is 'Popty Ping' which is one of the welsh ways of saying 'Microwave' and before everyone gets at me I know Meicrodon is used a fair bit but north wales relatives prefer that one and hes picked up on it!

Im pretty sure sometimes that people who named Welsh villages just forgot vowels. For example my surrounding areas are Pontrhydyfen, Bryn, and Goytre. :o
    Time to find me again

I am so sorry I completely forgot about Connections ,that is where my boys went first!! My daughter managed to get into college through our Home Ed lady from the council ( the one who comes round to check your children are actually learning something and are actually still alive, her words not mine!)on a course called 'My Future' but I think they have stopped that now.Connections are really good once your kids hit 14 before that they are'nt really interested.I'm suprised at the College not being helpful but hopeful Connections will help, keep in touch regulary with them though ,we had to chase them up as someone had'nt passed a message to someone else and we were waiting by the phone whilst they had forgotton about us. There does seem to be a few Home Ed kids at our College but that's St.Austell and I suppose everywhere is different!

I'm going to let my O.C.D. side out today (it is normally supressed apart from all the clothes pegs having to be lined up correctly and all the same colour!) and completely clean out all the kitchen cupboards. My kids moan when I line up everything in neat rows but then I know what's there,at least I don't get a ruler out anymore!!

    Coffee first though......

Morning all! Hope everyone is well.

Sorry to hear of your loss Kimsmum, it must have been a terrible shock.

I hope all who are unwell and feeling under the weather soon pick up.

Had a busy day yesterday as it was my little girl's first afternoon at nursery. She loved it and had a little cry when I told her we had to go home! I had to stay with her yesterday but will be leaving her for 3 hours from today - think I will be the one crying!

Having a bad week as a couple of unexpected bills have landed so am being extra frugal. Dinner last night consisted of left over bean curry with added sausages on top of mashed potato. I thought it was a strange combination but everyone her loved it! Also batch cooked a huge amount of bolognese sauce for the freezer (30 individual portions!), so will attempt to make my own pizza bases today so we can have bolognese pizza for tea. Wish me luck!

Did a little shopping at T*sco and M*rris*ns last night and managed to get:

    2 bags of potatoes
    1 bag parsnips
    1 large swede
    1 largish pack of mushrooms
    8 bags value pasta (2 for 50p)
5 chocolate donuts (I know, not needed, but they were only 20p!)
    2 punnets raspberries
    20 cocktail sausage rolls
    loaf of bread
    1 bag broth mix
    1 bag value cocoa pops
    1 kilo porridge
4 large thick pork shoulder steaks
    all for approx £13.

Question - there are 4 steaks, and 5 of us will be eating them. What would you do with them? I am good with other meats, but pork kind of baffles me unless its a simple roast!

    Hugs to all x

Katieowl- What a NH "Service" your poor OH received. Can I take it the proffesional gentleman appologized for wasting your husbands time and gave him a refund for the wasted petrol money ? Takes courage to have to go in the first place(I'd be terrified) without having to put up with naughty remarks etc from members of the "careing profession".Hope he's ok. xx

mix some soy sauce and honey, or if you dont have these then a smear or BBQ sauce cut into thick strips and pan fry serve on a bed of noodles and veg or potato slices (roasted) and veg that way you can stretch 4 steaks to five people.
