Question - there are 4 steaks, and 5 of us will be eating them. What would you do with them? I am good with other meats, but pork kind of baffles me unless its a simple roast!

Maybe slice them up and do a stir fry or some kind of curry dish? If we get pork steaks I slice them in to thin strips, fry them a little bit and then put in a Korma sauce mix or tikka masala( but Korma keeps everyone happy!) and serve it with rice or chips (if we have potatoes) and it seems to go a lot further.

Katieowl- What a NH "Service" your poor OH received. Can I take it the proffesional gentleman appologized for wasting your husbands time and gave him a refund for the wasted petrol money ? Takes courage to have to go in the first place(I'd be terrified) without having to put up with naughty remarks etc from members of the "careing profession".Hope he's ok. xx

LOL What do you think ;)

Yes OH was terrified...of course he was. Also being a man, he's a lot less used to being poked about than us girls are. Think he'll be even more terrified now if he does eventually have to have it done. But TBH I think he'll probably dig his heels in even more and refuse. At least the nurse who was there, is the one he's supposed to be seeing in three weeks, so she'll know what happened and hopefully be able to sort him out. His dad has had prostate problems for years, that have never turned 'nasty' and he's 93 now, so I'm not unduly worried about my OH. We are all just a bit ultra sensitive right now, because of my friend in the village's cousin dying just before Xmas (he'd got a secondary cancer from prostate cancer) but he was much much younger than OH and it's a more aggressive disease if you are young.

Anyway - onwards and upwards as they say. I have a ton of stuff to do today...I really don't know where to start!

Off to my sister's today so lunch will be cooked for me :) only thing is it's chicken dippers, beans and waffles - she's getting there slowly though.

I reported in with a 1lb weight loss this morning on t'other thread. Goes to show that you really don't need any expensive diets regimes to lose weight or cook one meal for yourself and others for the family. I'm eating everything I would have done I just have a side plate portion instead of a chocka-block meal plate.

Tonight it's HM lasagne, salad and HM garlic bread. :)

DH job is going well. We've found out he is in scheme that gives you a percentage off different things. Kind of like quidco I guess but connected to his company. I'm going to use this scheme though as I'd rather have money left over from my budget that a lump sum every now and then. I can get 4% off my shopping at Asda. Need to look into it but still 4% is better than paying full whak.

fuddle that sounds like something my OH keeps mentioning - must admit he has no idea of details and I keep forgetting to look into it. My vague understanding is that we buy vouchers to spend at a discounted rate but could me completely wrong. :)

katie - shocking service, definitely worth contacting PALs for advice.

Have had yet another disaster, kids got up this morning and the sky box would not switch on, turns out that the wires in the back have been leaking water and have rusted off!! As it was only installed in May I contacted sky to be told that it wasnt under warranty since we had only moved house in May rather than starting a new service.
I wish we had started as new customers now rather than transfer from last house. They wanted to charge an arm and a leg, I pointed out that they had installed cabling that was leaking water into my house and TV cabinet so they offered me insurance instead!!
Called cancellations to cancel (was going to wait a few months and get OH to sign up fresh) and they were so helpful, and agreed to send an engineer to sort free of charge. Now why could they not do that in first place?

Kate my Dad had to have a colonoscopy (he said it wasn't as bad as he thought it would be) at the beginning of december because they suspected prostate cancer.....they kept us waiting until a few days ago for the results which was more than a little frustrating, and came back as 'no definite sign of cancer'. Now I'm not sure exactly what that means but I'm presuming its good. Even when I was fearing the worst though, i was reading a lot of positives about survival rates. I hope your DH gets the tests he needs soon, and an apology would certainly be nice for completely wasting your time and petrol wouldn't it?1

Oooh, I'd love to do Jury Service, I think it would be so interesting. DH got called once many years ago but wasn't eligible as he'd worked at a court too recently, but I've never been called.

Sorry to hear about your DH's experience Kate, it's appalling.

I thought it would be interesting too, but then DH got called last year and he found it really stressful. The whole jury took it very seriously and went through all the evidence very carefully because it wasn't by any means a no brainer - DH said it really restored your faith in the jury system. But he found it a terrible responsibility knowing that if they got it wrong they would ruin someone's life and he had a couple of nights of tossing and turning worrying about it
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Morning all, I just have to share this. A large box was delivered a little while ago, with Interflora blazened all over it; I was sure it had been delivered to the wrong place so checked the name, but no, it was for me! I tried to think who would send me flowers and came up with zilch:rotfl: but it turns out that it is a from a competition I entered, can't recall which one, and it is the most beautiful basket of poinsettias and white roses. So beautiful I almost cried. Just stunning. :D I did a little dance.

edit: just had the email to advise me, and was told the company upgraded the prize from a poinsettia to a basket worth £50.

Because now you will continue to be a revenue stream ;) They tried to [STRIKE]squeeze you for a bonus[/STRIKE] capitalise on the opportunity, didn't work, so this way they still get their hands on your money with a continued subscription. Win-win for them either way and you are left feeling grateful to them for being "so helpful" ;) Clever, huh?
