  • Hi I have been reading all the posts on here (both good and bad and for and against) Well I am currently in the middle of a flea infestation. I live in a public house and unfortunately if we are are all honest this happens, especially when animals are allowed in to a pub. In our case though it is also due to the previous tenants and their hygiene. (enough said about that:eek:) Any way I have used Diatomaceous Earth as a flea control in the past and have found it to be great, does what it says on the tin. We have cats and dogs and encourage them to roll around/play in it when we are applying it to the floors, furniture, outside patios etc, etc at our last pub we were a flea free zone  which when you add into the mix we had a river on one side and a working farm on the other, plus all the fields that surrounded us was a fantastic feat. :j I have never thought though of adding it to food both for the pets or our selves. So from as soon as I get a new supply I will be trialing it, I do have some but I have had it for a year now so feel I want some fresh before we all start using it. Will update post in a few days.;)
  • Having read this thread from when it started in 2011 until this year, I find it very interesting that some people are so negative about it.

I've just ordered my first batch of DE by recommendation from a work colleague as I am fed up of not getting answers from doctors. Their answer is to sell me something that just masks the problem.

    My story:

I suffer with IBS which generally involves constipation, stomach pain, embarrassing levels of wind daily and painful heartburn. I have suffered with repeated bouts of thrush for years and not one doctor has a solution to my problems and they definitely don't believe in an illness called candida.

I've tried detox and cutting food out etc but it's just so restricted on your life.

I for one will be giving this a whirl cause how much more rubbish can this be for me than all the other anti fungal and IBS pills I've put in my body?!!

people that are so anti obviously don't need it anyway.

Good luck to people that are starting out!

Gunk and mucous does not build up in the intestinal linings and nor does it need to be cleansed either by eating DE or having colonic irrigation. These actually cause far more harm than good by destroying the beneficial bacterial ecosystem living naturally within us thus allowing for pathogenic bacteria to gain a foothold.

Have you ever actually seen inside the digestive system and inspected the intestinal tract, either physically or via an endoscope? I suspect not otherwise you'd know there's nothing in it to "clean out". Our bodies are actually very effective in cleansing themselves.

As long as you are eating enough fibre, otherwise a steady diet of proccessed rubbish will lead to an accumulation of a gell like starchysubstance that acts as a growing medium for various nasties. Pills and potions are not the answer though, eating soem more vegetables is.

Because it's an unproven alternative therapy.

This is a strange place to put your first post. I suspect you may start advertising the company you "bought" it from.

I suffer from IBS too. And if your docs have treated you for thrush, then they've treated you for candida and thusly believe in candida.

Heaven forbid you have to not eat food that triggers a reaction.

Those tested, proven and validated medications must be dreadful.

Nobody needs it, that's why it's not a medication! :rotfl:

Good luck to people that are starting out!

    You might need it.

I think this is one of the few threads I've had a massive input to!

Heaven forbid people should change their diet to help their bodies ;)

Common misconception that lots of fibre is the answer to IBS, for some us more fibre make the symptoms very much worse, most dieticians have cottoned on to this, but not sure about Gp's.

It is very much a case of listening to one's own body and trial and error to try to find a healthy diet that does not cause us to be doubled up in pain or needing to be only short distance from bathroom most of the time.

  • I have been using this as a supplement for a long time. be warned that you must make sure your supplier states to you that they have a very low arsenic and lead count as this can be dangerous.
