  • I do hope that Sam doesn't have Rheumatoid Arthritis - as 'stimulating the immune system' is the last thing they would want in that situation.

Heh, just found out apparently we've used it as a filtration agent in the lab here :)

Still wouldn't eat it though ;)

I happened to be looking into Diatomaceous earth last month, for use in my chicken run. Many chicken keepers use it to control Red Mite and some also feed it to their chickens to combat internal parasites such as worms. I found some scientific studies that show it was very effective in this. I'll see if I can find the links again when I get a chance.

I also found Diatomaceous earth is used in a lot of municipal water treatment plants and swimming pools. I also read that the US Army used it in their water filters in World War II to remove Giardia, Cryptosporidium and bacteria.

I plan to buy some for my chickens, as I prefer to use that in my chicken runs than conventional disinfectants which use bleach. And also preferable to use when combating internal parasites, since conventional internal medicines require egg withdrawal periods due to their toxicity.

However helping to repair the immune system is a really good thing. People with Rheumatoid Arthritis have a compromised immune system and should do all they can to help get their immune system back in balance. Removing toxins from theur system is one way to help but a healthy diet is also critical.
  • Please could some one recommend a company I can buy this from? Thank you
  • Google can probably help you. I'm certainly not.

Hello there just subscribed to my first ever thread!!! I just wanted to reply to the original message. I too take DE. I have been taking this for 2 weeks. I am also a little enthusiastic about this at how inexpensive, natural and effective it is. From the thread I am taking the Calcium Bentonite one. (I am glad of the minerals). Yes I have told many friends and some have spent a lot of money on ailments etc so we have decided that this is our experiment! Like yourselves I have scanned the web still looking for pros and cons. The only thing I can identify for myself is that when you stop taking it symptoms seem to return. which is a pity. However then the mindset is to take it as a suppliement rather than an out-right miracle cure! Not much more to say other than I am still learning about it and I am taking 2 tablespoons at the moment (one during the morning and evening) and I do love it, it also gives a bit of a feel good factor uplifting energy. I just hope I can keep taking it as a supplement without side affects which I have not seen. Thats me.!:T:A

One other question, from your statements I assume you believe that all the gunk/mucous that has built up over long periods along the walls of our digestive system is best left there and that those that for example use colonic irrigation or in this case DE are foolish to remove it from their system????

Gunk and mucous does not build up in the intestinal linings and nor does it need to be cleansed either by eating DE or having colonic irrigation. These actually cause far more harm than good by destroying the beneficial bacterial ecosystem living naturally within us thus allowing for pathogenic bacteria to gain a foothold.

Have you ever actually seen inside the digestive system and inspected the intestinal tract, either physically or via an endoscope? I suspect not otherwise you'd know there's nothing in it to "clean out". Our bodies are actually very effective in cleansing themselves.
