Oh Ive been doing it for about ten years now, my hair is ok. I dont straighten it every day, more like every 2-3 so its pretty good.
Also I dont think of it as time I could have spent in bed - you could say the same thing about anything you do in the mornings like eating breakfast, brushing your teeth - but at the end of the day I dont want to go out looking like a state. I take pride in my appearance and it only takes a few minutes. I mean you never know who you are going to meet on the school run! And often I go somewhere else afterwards.
I also like to get up about an hour before I have to leave anyway, to sit and watch the tv and have a drink and wake up a bit before getting ready. So it easily fits in.Wow, I can get myself and my two kids washed, dressed and down for breakfast in that time.
Whats that got to do with the price of fish?
I can do the same with the kids I look after. I can also look good at the same time too0 -
Since my GS was 2 and a half I have taken him to nursery then school and it's amazing to find I am invisible!! me, 5' 8" tall and size 18 totally invisible. I look reasonably normal, I smile (well I did) and no one can see me. I realise this is something that happens to most women when they hit 50 (I'm 57) but surely not in the school playground!! Anyway none of it matters because one little person can see me and the smile on his face makes it totally worth while!!Slightly bitter0

At my childrens new school the 'odd' ones are those who turn up in some kind of work uniform and their kids have a lunchbox!
Seriously its either the grotty ones dropping their kids off in pj's, dressing gown, fake uggs and chiffing away on a B&H or the 18 year old dropping the little corey or mason off half dressed in a purple juicy couture trackky and sporting a croyden facelift.
IPOD's are a saviour of all these situations.Little Person Number 4 Due March 2012

I'm glad my children don't go to a school where it's a 50/50 split of people like you described <insert sarcasm here>0 -
They actually did this as a topic on the Wright stuff this morning.
This is the article they linked to:
Mothers in deprived areas are put off from playgroups by fears about cliques of other mothers - or because they think they are not from the "right social class", research suggests.

I just put on a pair of jeans, some Vaseline on my lips and if I can't be bothered to comb my hair (it's waist length and takes about half an hour to get all the knots out) I cover it with a scarf and pretend I've gone all religious. I'm a Muslim so probably can get away with that look
Can a person look Muslim?
I'm a school run outsider since I'm on mat leave from a full time job. I've known most of the mothers for years, but we still have Queen Bee and her sidekick (sidekick will only address you if QB does so first).
It's all part of the rich tapestry...I sometimes take the dog...they frequently block roads with their inconsiderate parking. Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x0 -

Its not a 50/50, more 90/10. I feel over dressed just by throwing on a pair of jeans. I am by no means well to do or even remotely close to one of these queen bee mums, just a normal semi aged mum who's kids have lunchboxes and trying to avoid having to have a conversation over what happened in TOWIE. I sometimes also turn up in a uniform :eek:Little Person Number 4 Due March 2012

I'm not suprised from some of the judgemental twaddle I've read on here this morning - heck at least those in pj's, with 'croydon facelift's or whatever else posters feel the need to be snobby about are taking their kids to school - plenty don't bother sending the kids, or send them alone.
Seems you are damned for being 'too posh' or having an expensive car and damned if you are 'chavvy' or whatver - seems we can't win!People seem not to see that their opinion of the world is also a confession of character.

I didn't pick up from her post that she thought she looked Muslim, she said she is Muslim and by wearing a headscarf over her hair on bad hair days, she thought she could get away with it as she thought it might make her look religious, because she is a Muslim. It made sense to me.
