Yes, you get a confirmation email after you apply, then if you're accepted you'll get another email with a pre-delivery survey attached.

So I developer unlocked the phone and started looking at homebrew apps - there is a neat folders one, where one tile can contain multiple apps.

Seems OK for the money, it also allows you to use a desktop app that does a complete backup of the phone - plus there seems to be a decent battery management app (with livetile with percentage) available.

hey im also from india and i also got same mail on same date at 14 dec ive applied applied and completed step 1. But now 7 days are over by receiving email i have not received any mail from nokia.....will they reply?... will i got selected for lumia 800?...im checking my gmail every day every hour will they send mail to everyone who applied to step 1....please reply..:):)

We can't tell you what they will or wont do, this is an independent forum. All you can do it hope you're lucky like some here were.

If it works the same in India as it did in the UK, then yes, the phone will be sent to you free of charge - however as this is a UK based forum, we don't really have any specific knowledge of how things work in other countries.
