My first impressions are favourable - I know a lot of people have complained about battery life but it seems fine for my usage - however, if people find it heavy, go into settings - applications and check what you are allowing to run in the background.

overall impressions on mobile design and software are very good. But poor otherwise on the battery side. I am coming off Motorola Atrix which has got 1950 mah battery. and for my heavy usage it easily lasts a day between charges. with Lumia by 3pm I will be searching for a charger.
Also number of apps were not that great, if i wanted something in android there were a dozen free apps to choose from...in wp7 there are hardly any and sometimes they are paid....
nevertheless here i hope wp7 will get some moreuseful apps.

There are two battery updates coming for this phone - one in December and one in January - for reasons known only to nokia, the battery in this phone is currently capped by the software to charge to 85% of what it can actually hold - the first update will take it to 100%, the second will tune the software further.

Speaking of apps, if people want an easy way to toggle wifi and other functions - download em... 'toggle' from the market.
  • I've just been given one of these through work (after all my grumbling!) and I must say I'm very impressed with the social network integration. Sometimes the keyboard feels a bit *too* smooth if you know what I mean and I am very disappointed in the quality of apps but for a baby OS, that will soon improve hopefully!
Have I helped? Feel free to click the 'Thanks' button. I like to feel useful (and smug). ;)

Quite nice how you can set the tiles to filter - so you can put your family together and just get the updates for them in a tile.

Not overly impressed with it's Google Calendar support. I have 4 calendars in total on my Google account, and it is only capable of syncing the primary one :(

Ps. My battery life was horrific yesterday, but I used the crap out of it :D

The wifi sync is pretty good, I was thinking of copying some photos - I opened zune and my phone was already connected (because it's charging in the other room).
Not overly impressed with it's Google Calendar support.

    And I doubt it's a priority for microsoft... :-)

I also have an exchange account and as you'd expect that is as smooth as butter...

truly wp7 does not handle multi tasking does it?
I tried to download the maps software after 40mb i navigated away to explore the phone and after 20 mins when i returned to the maps download, it then started to progress further from the point where it was left before.
very good hardware and slick interface but let down by the missing of key functionalities.

That's how it does it's multi-tasking, apps that support it are paused until you return to them. Guess it helps resources/battery life.
