Hubby had his DLA paid in today but the usual ammount no xmas bonus and ESA is due on 14th December so will have to see if anything is included with that. Had no letters at all about this.

ESA is a higher ranking benefit than dla so esa should pay the bonus if both benefits are payable this is what the dwp told me anyway

No-one I know of EVER received a letter notifying them of the £10 xmas bonus, it was just paid automatically with their benefit the first week in december

You obviously don't know me then -I got a letter about it both last year and this. Not sure why you'd expect everyone you know to TELL you about it though-it's their business not yours .

Payment was made seperately to the normal DLA payment however not lumped in with it.

And yes my palms itched at the "Normal" comment too !

Lol I wish I had a grand a month after bills. My monthly income from salary, tax credits and DLA is £1400, by the time my big 5 bills come off (rent, council tax, access to work, gas and electric) that's £800 away and I still need to pay for the phone, the fall alarm fees, carers, food deliveries (about £2 per meal from Wiltshire farms then bread, milk etc from supermarket), hearing aid batteries, trips to the hospital (5 departments) etc

Do you know I'd be better off just not being disabled!

You what... a £10 Xmas bonus? Is this a wind up?

We don't get that in the motor-trade! Seriously - this country baffles me!

Actually, Some people in the motor-trade may well get the bonus.

DLA is not an out-of-work benefit. It is given for care and mobility needs. Many people work and claim DLA.

Aye indeed - some do... but just by the wording used here - bonus for DLA claimants.

I just don't get it - what changes, at Xmas regarding DLA? If it was weather related, i'd understand that - you know, getting about etc.

Low income? My cousin is on DLA and after all outgoings and bills she tells me she has £1000 to spend every month. Same as me. I'm on 30k and after my mortgage and bills which aren't extravagant I am left with £1000. Except out of that I will have to pay for fuel to get to work!

Could you provide a breakdown on her income please? It is quite easy for anyone to claim that they have x amount available after bills, but without anything to back it up ... It's really just hot air!
