  • Hi

On the 9th March I sent a letter to Mint requesting a list of all charges for the last 6 years.

Today I received a response stating that enclosed is the schedule of charges and the £10 cheque returned as they do not charge for the service.

The letter has been signed by a Senior Customer Advisor.

Do you think it might be worth addressing my first letter claiming back charges + interest to this advisor at the Southend-on-sea address??

    Thanks

Hi all, recent delurker here, I've just started to open months of statements from my credit card so I can get my head out of the sand and see where I stand ( or more likely, where i crawl into a hole in the ground ) with my finances. Looking over these statements has raised a question or to so if any of the regular peeps could take a min I would like a little info

    1) Can I reclaim late payment fees
    2) Can I reclaim Over Limit Fees
    3) If the fees are all £12 can I still reclaim them.

I rekon if the answers to the above are yes (please let them be yes) then Mint will owe me money (wouldn't that be funny)

Oh and if I can reclaim them as I don't have all my statments (they are in a land fill some where as part of my if i can't see it it isn't happening phase of my life) do I send my SAR to the RBS address or to the Southend one on the mint statements

I recently received an offer of compensation from MINT in respect to charges over the previous 6 years totalling £524. They have offered £60 including interest on the basis that there charge of £12 is in line with the Office of Fair Trading guidelines. Is it advisable to accept this or should I challenge their decision?

Google OFT842(that is the report that they are talking about). Have a read of the report especially point 1.14. That tells you that you are arguing UTCCR 1999 and that ONLY a court can decide on a fair charge. Now do you think MINT are trying to get you to accept peanuts instead of the full bucket of popcorn?

  • Well,
    I am in amazement.
About 3 weeks ago I asked for a list of all my charges relating to my Mint CREDIT card. I also sent off a cheque for £10 to cover costs as per this sites guidance.
I receive a letter giving me the information I requested and also returning the my cheque for £10 saying they do not charge for this information.

I work out with the excellent calculator on this site, the full amount with interest for all my late charges. Totalling £980 (I do feel somewhat guilty for asking for them back, lol.)

I then send the templated letter from this site requesting back my charges, and lo and behold 2 weeks later, I get a letter from MINT saying they will give me the difference between the old £20 charges and the Iffice of fair tradings recommended amount of £12, totalling £129. The letter also says I should ring them if there is any trouble.

    Soooooooo,
I ring, and speak to someone in the department dealing with charges settlements, and after I say I am not going to accept their offer of £129, and will carry on with my claim for £980..

The girl then says she is going to work out a new settlement figure, and when she returns a minute later, I am offered £881, which I accept and they are now sending me a letter stating this in the post..
    WOW...
    How easy is that..

Keep at it people, go for it all, and you will get a decent conclusion..

    Good luck.
    Neil

    Quick Question,

I had a Mint credit card that started in April 2004. Am I still able to claim back any of the late fees from this account or should I just forget it?

I claimed back charges last year from a card taken out in April 2004 coincidentally! Best of luck!

I probably left it a bit late, the balance was settled in August 2006 and has not been used since. Ahh well.
