Hi all.
I am in the process of trying to claim charges from Mint however i have hit a problem. The account with them was closed in 2005 and i do not have my account number. I have written to them informing them of my name, address and previous address, DOB, the date the account was opened and closed and the account limit at the close. They replied to me stating that they could find no trace of my account.
I then received my credit report from Callcredit containing my account number and so i wrote a second letter to Mint asking for details of charges on this account number. they have again replied stating that they can find no trace of my account.
I am now not sure of my next move. I was under the impression that they had to keep account information for 6 years, in which case the information i have provided them is more than sufficient to find my account. Have i lost this case already as they are insistant that they cannot find my account details.
Are there any next steps that i can make? Any help from you all would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone else had a similar problem?
Many Thanks,
Shandiar0 -
Hi all,
I am on my 2nd MINT credit card at the moment. From my first credit card I received a few charges for going over the limit. My balance is currently £1622. The charges from the last card total £70. Is it worth reclaiming these at a risk of them closing my current cc account?

Hi all, Can somebody please help me. In 2007 I was charged £12 for a late fee but got it reversed because it weren't late. I paid for it the day it was due.
However I have been hit £60 in over limit fees. I went over by a couple of pennies and then got stung £12. I got charged in Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov and Dec. £12 pound each. I didn't realised I had went over because I get my statements online and werent checking =/ becasue I was just paying the minimum and didn't realised I had gone over by a couple pence otherwise I would of paid the little bit extra.
I just want to know is it possable to claim this back?
I sent them out the 1st process letter on the 29 Jan and got a quick reply yesterday from MINT saying they believe there charges are fair and no refunds will be forthcoming. They also say I can refer my case to the Financial Ombudsman Service see enclosed leaflet... but there was no leaflet enclosed =/
Can somebody please advise what to do next?
Can you claim back £12 charges?
Shall I reply with the 2nd letter to reclaim CC Charges.
Thanks in advance

hi
the £12 charge was set as a threshold were the ombudsman would not get involved. it does not say this is a fair level. most people claim all of the charge back successfully. it usually needs you to start court action before they pay you back and that will cost you. however you reclaim that cost form them too.

Hi,
I found this on another site, just edit it a bit if need be and it should be ok.
Dear [named sender or Sirs]
Thank you for your letter dated xx/xx/xx
I respectfully decline your offer as Full and Final settlement and request, once again, that you return to me all charges imposed on this account, totalling £xxxx
I will accept the sum offered only as part settlement and on the clear understanding that I will pursue recovery of the remainder, with a County Court claim if necessary.
My (Request for Repayment letter) (Letter Before Action) dated xx/xx/xx indicates that you have until xx/xx/xx to respond before I proceed to the next stage of my request (before I commence legal action). My deadline remains the same despite this offer.
If you do not accept my conditions for acceptance, or you do not respond within 7 days, I shall return the cheque to you. For the avoidance of doubt, I wish to stress that I do not accept your offer under the terms stated in your letter.
(If the bank have credited your account, please use this note in place of the above paragraph)
If you do not accept my conditions, or you do not respond within 7 days, I wish to stress that I do not accept your offer and the money transfered to my account should not be viewed as my acceptance. I hereby authorise you to remove this sum accordingly.
I trust this clarifies my position.
Yours faithfully

I asked for details of default charges over 6 years for 4 accounts i,ve had with them (enclosing the £10) (Nov 07). I received details of 2 accounts and 1 is ok and the other is ongoing with the FOS. The other 2 accounts have been delayed and delayed and delayed due to the accounts being closed and details being archived but eventually received a phonecall saying they don't have them. I have written a letter with estimates of charges assuming that my current bank account for the same period would be in the same state. My letter back states that they have no record of the accounts and have i written to the correct company?
All i have is an old equifax credit report that states the company name (Mint RBS) and the credit card numbers and a few details on the account= late payments etc.
What is my next step?0 -
im currently with mint and my account wil be closed next week. I cant remember off the top of my head how long i have had my card but i know that most (if not all) of my charges are for £12. Do i just claim back the full amount (late payment and overlimit fees) plus the interest? Also which address do i write to? Is it the customer services one thats at the top of my statements?
Thanks in advance

If you owe them money, they are entitled to use the money you reclaimed to settle this debt. After they have deducted what you owe, it sounds like you should e left with a positive balance. Ask them to close the account and send you a cheque for the balance.0
