He is more cunning than a fox who used to be Professor of Cunning at Oxford University, etc... and will find a way of dealing with it much more subtly than my somewhat naive belief that pointing out the problem would enable her to start fixing it. Always listen to yourself because that's at least one person in your life you're reasonably sure isn't an idiot...

No...there are a number of words that should be avoided at all costs, and that phrase has two of them... :eek:
I wouldn't say all my workmates have a sense of humour. Some just are dead from the neck upwards, while others are scandalised if you just apply just a couple of layers of euphemism rather than a dozen.

Possibly not for this application. There will be plenty of rather arrogant sorts going for it and this might well be why they have dropped the statement and started focusing on the criteria.
