  • Aw Kerri don't worry! :A (hug) it's not really about the money for me it's just a brilliant excuse to have that resolution and Get Out on time! I have said I will before, but now it's more fun because I can imagine the Xmas 2012 100 all standing in the car park waiting for me :rotfl: If I happen to have an excuse to raid Hotel Chocolat at the end of the week that will be a bonus!

After all they only pay me for X number of hours so they should only get that... I will have a life to go to! :rotfl:

Anyway I am plotting to work from home on Friday so that will fix it nicely :D

I thought you had company this evening? ;)

There lies the crux of the problem. Before, money was basically limitless in the larger organisations in the public sector. If someone screwed up and blew the budget, they'd go doe-eyed to their manager, who'd go doe-eyed to someone else, and the money would appear. Needless to say, this encourages the "we'll just do it with half-arsed planning and no forethought and worry about it tomorrow".

Does 'doe-eyed' also cover "with a load of flannel about how it's all too complicated and somebody else's fault"? But yes, same result...

No they're not - they're superb. If you ever come under any sort of gunfire, running with the sandwiches placed over vital organs will ensure that you escape unharmed...

    Proper eating then.

Reasonably healthy - multigrain toast n' Marmite, stir fry from scratch except for the sauce, not a case of emptying plastic bags :)

Can't do anything with the garden and house if moving so all my usual 'home' energies are going into cooking instead :) This could turn out to be a Good Thing.

How's you apart from also cross with public sector fossils?

I covers all the sins from the blame everyone in the room for not telling them how hard it would be, to blame everyone in the room for not taking it off them because it was too hard.

Still ill. But from the traffic reports, sounds like it wasn't worth getting out of bed anyway. How are you?

Pretty good really. Work only thing winding me up and that will get sorted. Other stuff also untangling gradually. More musing will happen in next week or so.

First draft of application done :j... so have finally got to see all pages. All looks do-able but am slightly surprised at lack of insistence on personal statement so must check if I missed requirement to drivel about how marvellous I am (won't be disappointed if not, I hate writing those things).

Have another week to get that sorted including checking my referees don't mind being listed (and hopefully will say nice things about me).

Good...the more musing, the more things you know aren't right, so the more you can fix...

So do I. Absolutely. Though since I've been with current employer for a while, I now see what the most outrageously self-inflated guff I can put into them. People who know me laugh, other people tend to take it seriously. Which is also funny...

    That's always a good thing.

I got out of work at 1800 on the dot and on the doorstep!! :j

Am veerrry chuffed with myself. Did mean I ran out on my deputy as we had one more thing to send, but she would only have been 2 mins behind me.

Went in a bit late as am still owed a half day this week and although I took breakfast, didn't get to eat it til 1. Lunch was at 3.30. After two somewhat interesting personnel meetings and a variety of other stuff that managed to appear in between. Am really going to have to learn to say NO, not doing that til I've been fed...

Which brings me to the unexpected side effects of running off [STRIKE]early[/STRIKE] on time... am suffering a little adjustment guilt, but am feeling remarkably light on resentment. I kinda thought I didn't mind staying if work needed doing, but you know what, it turns out I darn well do mind. Who knew? :rotfl:

I've been getting crosser than usual about this recently as we have one team member who simply isn't doing the job she's paid for, and to begin with I was the one sorting out her screw-ups/ giving repeated explanations that took longer than the work/ getting the phone calls from people who wanted to know why they'd got instructions that didn't make sense... then eventually even I got noticeably fed up and informed our mutual boss that this is the kind of problem he gets paid for. So now he can deal with it and it's clearly not MY responsibility if she stuffs up. Which also means that I don't have to meet the kind of evil thoughts that were beginning to hover around me when I was sitting in the office at 7.15, effectively giving up MY social life and fun to do HER job and therefore basically funding her to swan off at 4.55 to spend time with her husband and kids...

And this is good, because I don't like those thoughts. I worry that spending too much time with them would turn me into someone thoroughly unlikable and poisonous. I have always been the person who ends up doing stuff, simply because stuff not getting done properly Bothers me and I kinda thought that just doing it myself would Bother me less... and now I guess I am fed up being Bothered at all.

But I somehow wasn't expecting the answer to be 'well then stand up for yourself, you nutcase'. And yet it's true. I consistently put my own needs last, and not just at work. I deliberately left a bunch of 'lame duck' one-sided friendships behind last time I moved, by simply not giving people my new number unless they actually contacted me on the old one. I've switched a couple of friends off my FB news feed so that they can have their amateur dramatics without me having to watch. And I have made a little progress this year in accepting that however much effort I make with my family, I am unlikely to get the results I'd like/ need... so I've given up making that effort where it's wasted, and will eventually find a way of giving it where it's appreciated.

I suspect I just haven't stopped for long enough to listen to myself before.

So... I shall be working from home tomorrow afternoon if I can, and I'll be continuing the My Time exit plan for another week to start with. Flylady reckons it takes a month to establish a habit, so let's see how things go. And I will take time for lunch, because really, the world won't stop if it just has to wait half an hour for my attention.

See, I did warn you more musing would happen :o
