Yes, you do need to do that. It's not how "hard" you can make yourself, but how flexible. Like a sapling in the wind.
Flexibility, tolerance, room for events... all those things I insist on at work, and somehow don't apply elsewhere...Do you ever think *if* you should do something?
Now that's a fair point... asking that first would cut down the things I do need to worry about, and the ones that shouldn't be my problem...

Well today's day out was cancelled due to the friend we were meeting having a stomach bug (something of a coincidence as I believe it was her work do last night , but not much to be done about it). Was looking forward to photo exhibition
but Frozen Planet is some consolation. As we hadn't booked tickets it will be rescheduled to Jan when we can all go. Does mean this also saves me £40 or so from the budget, which will be very useful through the rest of the month.
I also got to sleep in very late, had some totally random dreams, and suspect it did me a lot of good.
Am refusing to touch my work stuff, even though there are things I didn't get finished on Friday, as that would be contrary to the Xmas12 mini-challenge :rotfl: so thank you again Kerri :A :T. (Obviously I can't set a time to leave work on the weekend, but I figure working at all would be working past my hours, so am not doing it. Every time I consider it, I am thinking of the Xmas12 100 all crossing their arms and staring at me as I switch on the laptop :rotfl:) Minor adjustment guilt but also minor revelation that 1) me getting to watch Frozen Planet in my PJs is very important, thank youand 2) time off needs to happen in regular doses, not be stored up for some future holiday that ends up never happening. OK it has taken me a long time to figure out these basic requirements...
Have also decided am going to save £20 a month by cancelling my union subscription. Am not entirely happy about this decision, but am even more unhappy with the local representation so would never use them and that means I'm paying out money I don't have for a service I won't use. The reps in the last place I worked were lovely and I would have been very grateful to have them with me in a meeting. The ones here have so far used bad rhetoric and vaguely threatening language, misrepresented figures, and appear to have forgotten the purpose of protecting people from poor treatment in favour of pushing us/ them politics. I'm already fed up of having to put my hand up in a meeting and explain that I am a manager, I have turned up, and that what they have said is not entirely accurate because x, y, etc and risks misleading staff. I just don't need the hassle and I have no actual obligation, so they're not getting my money any more. I think I have legal cover with the house contents insurance and if not, I'll find another way of sorting it out. 'Tis a shame as I do believe in the concept and I think broad representation is valuable, but I can't be dealing with the local form of process when it means my blood pressure goes up every time I open one of their umpteen emails.
Must start booking up some weekends with fun stuff now am managing to survive the week properly. Job application have changed assessment dates so if there are spaces left I can go on a day out with the local wildlife group after all :j and if landlord doesn't make any drastic announcements in January I may go along on a trip to see the Northern Lights... finally... :j ... friend knows I would love to come, just don't want to book while not knowing if I will suddenly need a rent deposit. So fingers crossed.
Also going to go back to FlyLady this week so I can get back in the swing of having the house chores done during the week, ready to have the weekend free or people over. Most of the place is fine at the minute but haven't been very organised about it.
Rest of tonight will be phone chats, tea and early night ready to finish up work stuff on Monday. Within my actual hours
Hope everyone also having fab relaxed Sunday :j

Well £20 is expensive, I think I pay about a tenner. Is there not some other union in your workplace?RosaBernicia wrote: »I'm already fed up of having to put my hand up in a meeting and explain that I am a manager,

As in the Aurora as opposed to the theatre company?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

What, the random dreams did you good?
Yep - agree with the Jungians on this one, dreams help process things. Not quite sure what this lot meant (well actually the having to clean new house might make sense, not quite so clear on the corralling black bear and cubs), but hopefully means my subconscious is getting there even if the rest of me hasn't caught up yet.Oh, you do that as well?
Oh good so it's not just me then! Have spent so long hoarding annual leave and TOIL for studying, I get a bit antsy about using it in case I need it. This must be changedWell £20 is expensive, I think I pay about a tenner. Is there not some other union in your workplace?
Have investigated the other options again and think I might pick up another one that's an equal size union and only £11. I don't think they're recognised where I work, but so much is in flux it's not even clear where I will technically work in a couple of months time - and it would still mean I have access to advice if needed. Thanks for the reminder :ASo don't.
What, and allow an injustice and potential disaster to unfold before my eyes? I'm a control freak, remember? :rotfl:As in the Aurora as opposed to the theatre company?
Yes, the borealis kind. Was too cloudy last time I went somewhere they can be seen. Always wanted to see them though, and I gather they're stronger this year - apparently they can be sort of predicted.
Are the theatre company worth a trip as well then?
How's you - you feeling any better than last week?
Hope your Monday goes well.

I call that a fairly successful weekend - no work :j, all chores done, had plenty of sleep, eaten properly, outlining stuff for coaching session tomorrow. Would have had full day out with friends as well as Friday night, if not for one cancelling, but am away next weekend so not a problem.
Checked through draft job application, only needs confirmation and dates for referees, short description of current job... and a decision on whereabouts I'd like to work. Has to be somewhere with plenty of non-urban options, and thinking moving back northwards would mean the money went further - though it would put me further away from most current friends. Ah well don't need to decide til Thursday and it won't be an issue unless they want me anyway!
Oh and NSD

Rosa my lovely,
I'll have to admit that a lot of this thread has gone over my head, but I'm glad to see that the marvellous ZTD is on your wavelength & doing what he does best ( no, not that)
.
Agreed on seeing the Aurora ... I've just seen them at the cinema (Happy Feet Two) how fab, will there be ice hotels involved in your trip too ?
Must get my beauty sleep now,
sweet dreams to you

Is that them? I thought they were the "Tell me about your childhood" ones (as opposed to the Freud "You want to sleep with your mother").RosaBernicia wrote: »Not quite sure what this lot meant (well actually the having to clean new house might make sense, not quite so clear on the corralling black bear and cubs),
You'll just have to bear with it...

I, alas, know where you're coming from. I think I shall have a lot of time off over Christmas this year.RosaBernicia wrote: »Yes, the borealis kind. I've never seen them, they just get plugged on the radio every blue moon.RosaBernicia wrote: »How's you - you feeling any better than last week?
Yes I am. Eating a bit more, and feeling a bit warmer.RosaBernicia wrote: »Hope your Monday goes well.
It'll be endless emails and people wanting stuff. I should be caught up with the emails by about Friday morning, then actually start doing the work Friday afternoon.
And then leave early, because I should be well hacked off by then...
Hope your Monday goes well too.
