"You're a shandy-drinking southerner - just like me!" would have the element of surprise I suppose...

Nay Missus. Nay, nay, and thrice nay...
You've probably already discovered that southern cider drinkers can hold their own.

They can, and do. Even in public. They just don't drink very much though...
Related debate in the office has been declared a truce as I can't manage to refer to Bath like its locals do any more than they can with Newcastle :rotfl:

    It's *easy*:

    Baarth.

    Nucassel.

    Try Alnwick... ;)

"I am a leaf in the wind, watch how I soar" idea?

Something like that, but I do bear in mind the motto: "Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines."

NSD :j (taking lunches in is clearly working)

Another referee agreed for application, since the Director was around this evening. Still need to write description of current job which I might try this eve... also need to finalise top choice of location but will talk that through with a friend tomorrow night.

Booking place on wildlife day so that will be £15 - sending cheque in next couple of days. Looking forward to it as means a chance to meet people as well as a winter walk out.

Tickets up to Edinburgh look to be about £50 ish. Unimpressed to find that the cheapest tickets the site were flogging - those would be the two singles, entirely non-flexible, miss-your-train-and-givvus-a-full-open kind - are a whole 20p cheaper than the fully flexible return ones. Just as well I clicked around and read the t&cs. Don't mind too much if the trip puts me over budget as unlikely to see friend again for at least 6 months and it will be such a lovely day out.

Also happy as double checked annual leave today and have 3 days more than I thought :) so might take the morning of Christmas Eve so can avoid the office altogether. Am considering rounding up all the books I haven't read yet into a pile (tower? :o) and working through them over the hols. But this might be a bad idea as actually reading them all could take months :rotfl:

Good luck. I know my job description consists of "Any mortal thing..."

Did you take a look at the first class singles? Paradoxically they can turn out cheaper than 2nd class at times. Train ticketing is a dark art alas...

Well it's easier when you spell it like that. Otherwise it just feels wrong :rotfl:

I did... have happy memories of free first class tickets the train company accidentally sent me many moons ago and like the quiet... but want the flexibility so can stay up there for tea if friend has time, and it shouldn't be too busy so will probably stick with the standard. Must remember to find quiet carriage though.

That's because it is wrong. Like the beer really. ;)

But not as wrong as Gloucester.

    That's good, because it's a nice place.

  • Should never have got Twitter account. Too much interesting stuff, no time to read...

The only "proper" use for twitter I've found was the snow map they did last winter.

  • There's some really good stuff - I use it for a semi-professional interest and pick up things I wouldn't spot otherwise - just a pity I have to do the day job...

Speaking of which, must write experience section. Must. Going to find person spec now.
