Well as I've just said to the Xmas12 lot...

Have somehow just managed to go round the local retail park and spend absolutely nothing. Had intended to get a plant for my work windowsill out of mini-challenge money, but nothing I liked and amazingly nothing else I wanted in the other shops either. So might just leave the money reducing the overdraft :D

Am finding it really helpful to have a date in mind as I don't feel I'm being deprived of things forever, there is a definite date when I will be able to have stuff if I still want it... does that make any sense... :o Am saying to myself 'but do you need it before next Christmas' and 'but will it last til Dec12'... which is good as it's focusing on MY life NOW not some other life I think I might want :j

Am going to continue the challenge of leaving work on time for this week as it's been really helpful - I'm getting used to having proper evenings and going to bed at a decent time, so am waking up feeling good.

    Also...

Am skiving Pilates as just not in the mood for contortions in a draughty hall and also this saves £10 ... might get round to doing some with a DVD later. And should get exercise later this week anyway at pole dancing lesson... _pale_

Work was blah, neighbour has now been asked by landlord to move by end of Feb. Not sure if this applies to me, since landlord hasn't contacted me, and the planning permission for next door is done while I'm not aware of an application for this one yet. So fingers crossed for staying a little longer.

Energy levels are creeping back up which means my boredom threshold is going down. Good to feel a bit more like my old self again but need to remember to chill and not push anything.

Chased up Quidco about £40 that is well behind schedule but still can't face Ebay. This week's extra effort is job application and Ebay can wait til after.

Hope everybody's Mondays have been good

I, alas, know where you're coming from. I think I shall have a lot of time off over Christmas this year.

    Good

Yes I am. Eating a bit more, and feeling a bit warmer.

    How north is north?

Proper north - not Watford :D

    Do you have family there?

Yes - although whether living near them would be beneficial is another question, so am treating this as a neutral consideration and focusing on what would suit ME... and it's bringing up some interesting points, as it turns out what I really want (greenery, scenery, garden, space for people to stay, kitchen I can turn round in without hitting my elbow) is not what some of my friends here want (entertainment, theatre, access to the city, shoebox so long as it's within the ringroad). Am beginning to think there are some things that would make a move worthwhile.

  • 'Tis fate... just had phone call from a friend in Scotland so money from mini-challenge and non-Pilates can go towards train ticket to meet up with her when I head north this weekend. :j:j

Sooo pleased as means I get to spend a day in lovely Edinburgh in gallery and cafes :j - will make a real treat and means I have that to look forward to when some of the rest of the weekend is likely to be difficult.

Well strangely, I have just done that too. Spooky.

Well almost the same. I treated myself to a burger.

I will be going back however, and going round IKEA this time. Though I'm not sure how wise I am to be braving IKEA this close to Christmas...

And is good feeling you back?
Proper north - not Watford :D

To be fair to the southerners, the Outer Orkneys begins at Watford Gap - not Watford. You might think I'm splitting hairs, but otherwise Milton Keynes would be in the North - And That Can Not Be Allowed...

So you're not named after the ship then?
Yes - although whether living near them would be beneficial is another question,

I must admit, I'm not a great fan of urban life. It's one of the things I really liked about my little holiday in Devon. I could go outside, look up, and say: "My God. It's full of stars."

Not that where I am is particularly urban, but the light pollution is bad.

    Great minds think alike :)

Ikea! :j  Not that I am safe to be let loose in any homewares department, but having Dime bar cake as well is close to Rosa nirvana. Especially with Christmas stuff. I am normally a Christmas nut but for some reason it hasn't hit me yet this year - will go for it when back next week.

    Sadly not yet...

No of course it can't. They're called the MIDlands for a reason. :D

Though this is not necessarily a good subject for debate in eg. Liverpool.

    Oh...

No major dramatics... just not exactly close and supportive either. As I think I said somewhere earlier, am worn out with making pointless efforts to change things so now redirecting energies a bit.

I never intended to live any form of urban life, it just happened entirely by accident and seemed inescapable for a while. I can't really complain as it was the path I've taken and it gave me opportunities I wouldn't have had otherwise... but now that I'm thinking what I really want next, stars would be Good.

Never tried it. Never even *heard* of Dime bar cake. My Mother makes mars-bar cakes. That's probably the closest.

I'm not all that bothered by Christmas TBH. It's not a solitary pursuit.

    Insist... ;)

Never mind Liverpool - try Sheffield...

Yes, it is that J-O-B thing...
but now that I'm thinking what I really want next, stars would be Good.

Just make sure you're good with the dark. Even my night-vision was freaking out in Devon. Nice place, just too many tourists... ;)

  well when you go back, stop in the restaurant and have a piece. That's an order ;) (And it's now also in Tescos, which reduces my excuses for Ikea trips :()

(My mum used to make mars bar cakes too. Might have to try doing those :) )

You needn't use real mars bars - the bars out of Aldi/Lidl work just as well.

Do I need qualifications? Or "just because I can?" ;)

No goggles, just the ability to see well in the dark. Except in Devon where the dark was too dark. Don't lose that torch...

"You're a shandy-drinking southerner - just like me!" would have the element of surprise I suppose...

You've probably already discovered that southern cider drinkers can hold their own.

Related debate in the office has been declared a truce as I can't manage to refer to Bath like its locals do any more than they can with Newcastle :rotfl:
