I wasn't aware that Polesalot is that common a name
Mind you, I think Squirrel Queen is fairly unusual too
There's a fab book by Joanne Harris with a character with synaethesia. I'm ashamed to say I'd never heard of it prior to that.
Ha ha my real name is normal although I quite like it now.
Joanne Harris - did she write Chocolat? That is one of my most favourite films. Ashamed to say I haven't read the bookIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
Oh do read Chocolat the book, I think it's better than the film.

I find my name written down is sharply focussed and is prominent even if I'm not really concentrating on reading something. I know it's just a brain-processing trick as it happens with "Z" too...
I know I've been spending too much time on here when I catch myself almost signing work emails as Rosa :rotfl:Just caught up on your diary Rosa, sorry I've not had time until now *smacks own hand*.
I'm interested in what shed you go for, my allotment is a little neglected at the moment I will have to go pay it some tlc on the weekendat least the days are getting longer now so more light in the evening.
I get really confused by words if I look at them for too long too, although I wish I saw them in colours
If this flat is an interim flat, what would be your ideal? I've felt very interim for years now and can't settleI've moved house 10 times in the last 5 years roughly, although most of it was uni houses.
Well done on reducing the overdraft, I bet that made you feel really goodxx
Hi Kerri, re. sheds have a look at https://www.waltons.co.uk - they are ShedMeister colleague's recommendation. I don't have space for a proper shed so am currently dithering between the Grande Storage (which might look a bit tall, but would keep the ladder out of the way), and the mower store.
What would be my ideal home? Interesting question, I'm still kinda figuring that one out. So far I can say - not in the city, quiet, green, and now I guess I can add not too big. I think I also prefer older properties to modern ones, subject to having decent heating and insulation; I love having a fireplace; and strangely, I really like not having stairs :rotfl:
Dammit, I think I'm a hobbit

My squirrel instincts have been satiated with a trip to Sainsbugs. As I've finally got the kitchen clear I can now cook properly in the evenings :j and I feel much happier for knowing I have stocks of pasta, emergency pizzas, frozen bread etc. I also got frozen veg so that I have less excuse for not eating enough of the stuff... so I had to venture into the frozen aisle - that was a bit of an experience. I think I eat badly til I see the carp that people can apparently be sold. Exited rapidly but did also pick up a couple of vegetarian bits as I want to cut down a bit on how much meat I eat. Total was about £50  but that did include 4 pizzas (fave on bogof), lots of essentials and stuff for lunches at work. Am bored of the local shops and very bad at restraining myself in M&S so think it would be better if I take lunch in and read a book instead.
Oh and I picked up a DVD but then got home and remembered I have a Groupon deal for 6 months of LoveFilm online access... I just haven't got round to setting it up yet 'cause I've been putting it off. So might be able to get it on there and return the DVD next week.
Have cancelled going to an event tomorrow as ended up just not looking forward to getting on an 8am train, it's been a long week at work and also I want to get some more house stuff sorted tomorrow. So I now have a full weekend to relax and read and wander into town :j
Oh and I have to add decent cooker to my list for the ideal home/ hobbit hole. I was unreasonably pleased yesterday when I found that the new hob understands what 'simmer' actually means. It's risotto again tonight just because I no longer have to jump around taking the pan on and off the too-hot plate :T:T:D

Of course. Though I didn't see many others in there.Have you ever went into a Morrisons?
Many moons ago, before they ventured southwards... and the relatives involved not only live on that stuff, they're still trying to persuade me to eat ox tongue. Is there nowhere to take a walk?
Nowhere scenic. It's in the middle of a v boring business park with no greenery to speak of and the choices are basically walking to Wilkos or walking to Tescos/ M&S. There's nowhere pretty that's within a lunchtime walking distance so I think it might have to be shorter lunch breaks and a faster escape to my garden/ the local park. Why?
*sigh* because it's dull and complicated and probably frustrating. I t will mean sending in the voucher, waiting til it turns on, then having to figure out what to plug in where, realising I haven't got the right cable/ it isn't long enough to reach the TV, ordering a cable with crossed fingers that it is the right one, more plugging things in, then having to navigate the menu which probably involves choosing formats, probably finding that my broadband isn't good enough, then quite possibly finding that the picture isn't right and having to phone GadgetGirl or ComputerUncle for an explanation. So it's rather bottom of the list of stuff to do.
Why would you only buy 2 fave pizzas when they're effectively half price? I filled the freezer... 'tis s**'s law that if I have stuff to eat when coming home late from work, it won't be necessary. See my cunning plan?

Perhaps they're being Secret Squirrels. See any moles with fezs? (so what is the plural of fez anyway?)RosaBernicia wrote: »Many moons ago, before they ventured southwards... and the relatives involved not only live on that stuff, they're still trying to persuade me to eat ox tongue.
It's more the garishly coloured "flavoured popcorn" that gets me. It has more E's than an Ibiza rave.RosaBernicia wrote: »There's nowhere pretty that's within a lunchtime walking distance so I think it might have to be shorter lunch breaks and a faster escape to my garden/ the local park.
Sounds like a plan Stan.RosaBernicia wrote: »*sigh* because it's dull and complicated and probably frustrating. Or you could phone them first, and save loads of hassle?RosaBernicia wrote: »Why would you only buy 2 fave pizzas when they're effectively half price? I filled the freezer... 'tis s**'s law that if I have stuff to eat when coming home late from work, it won't be necessary. See my cunning plan?

Well surprisingly, I've managed to do most of what I wanted to get done today. Despite being completely cream-crackered and a migraine. Though I usually get the migraine once I've stopped being stressed and I think that is probably the case this time - I feel much more settled for having been able to cook properly
Am very glad I cancelled going anywhere as I felt rubbish last night and obviously needed the sleep as I basically didn't wake up for 10 1/2 hours. Went back to bed with a book and breakfast, went to sleep again, then thought I'd better take the stuff to charity shop otherwise it would hang about for another week (there is *** all chance of popping out from work at the moment). So that's the last of the big stuff gone and anything else doesn't require the car.
I got a migraine just as I got back in the car so had to drive home very carefully while trying not to a) do anything that required having proper stereo vision or b) get distracted by the rather beautiful but very odd spiral lights design that was dancing in front of my eyes. Strangely I was really hungry when I got in so ate and then slept for another couple of hours on the sofa.
Didn't get into the garden to make a decision about shed but am hoping to do that tomorrow. I also want to go into town so I think picking up plants from the old house may have to wait til next weekend.
BUT after a two-hour game of giant Tetris this evening, I have managed to shift a whole bunch of boxes and disappear a bunch of stuff even before the shed arrives :T so the corridor into the flat is now clear, the living room is much better, and the kitchen just has Christmas stuff to downsize from two boxes to one (easy - throw out huge tacky tinsel that I never actually put up) and some files n' folders stuff that won't take too long either. Getting there
And once I have my den sorted, I will be ready to socialise over the summer

I have been SO effective today, it's almost like being back to full Rosability
Slept late again so woke naturally and think I am topped up again... popped into town for a few bits, including a rather MSE bath mat from Primarni that was 1/3 the price of the same thing in Homebass :T . Actually didn't buy anything I didn't go in for, despite trying on a few things. I don't usually buy anything in Primarni and I thought today might be an exception until I realised that the cream lace summer dress was lined with static-nylon... like that's a great idea for a hot summer's day, and it's not like cotton wouldn't have been as cheap - still, their loss. Treated myself to a coffee just to people-watch in a favourite cafe
And then I tidied the garden so it finally looks better and I know how much space I have for a storage shed. Am pleased I bought the metal table and chairs a couple of years ago as they need much less maintenance than wooden ones - the landlord's furniture has got soaked through and will be damaged, dunno why he didn't put a storage shed in for it :wall:. The bad news is that everything of mine has also got completely soaked through - some of it was under a tree and has been a bit better, but it's been snowed on and rained on so I did quite a bit of tipping water out and have brought some things inside to dry. Somebody please remind me not to move house in winter again?
Still can't decide what shed to buy as am not sure about whether a drill would be needed and don't like the idea of me combined with power tools :rotfl: so am going to ring the company this week and find out exactly what I would be letting myself in for. Might have another look round Homebass too.
Two loads of washing now sorted and intending to do a bit of goddessing later - summer is arriving rather faster than I expected _pale_, plus sorting out clothes for tomorrow. (Are you listening, FlyLady? I'm back)

I got to work early yesterday  was totally disoriented :rotfl: and cooked properly
Today not quite so effective...being no breakfast, work bonkers, noticed a couple of colleagues involved in the change plans have rather expanded their LinkedIn profiles, emergency pizza...
being took lunch in, am hopefully useful and not in dire need of LinkedIn, popped round to see a friend, have at least had passably healthy pizza instead of just biscuits :rotfl:
Flat is still good, have Friday off so going to pick up shed (which I suspect is going to follow the wisdom of the fabulous Nora and be a plastic store) and ordered hoover so after the weekend this place will be clean too
Energy levels still good. Do want to find time to meditate, ideally in the morning... this is a bit of a wild ambition given how rubbish I am with mornings but still, need some kind of a challenge
