Oooh thank you that will helpSo I need to be looking for someone with a wanton house then?
I think there's another name for those kind of houses.OK then, why did you buy them? Four long dresses for about £80 each sounds like you've either had them a long time (and bought them when money was worth something) or you bought them on special.
Fair point... well I bought one when I needed a dress for a special event relating to a friend's company, which turned out to be nowhere near as posh as we'd been told... one when I thought I would go to a uni ball on the MSc course and found a fab turquoise dress in the high street (didn't go, wore it for a conference dinner instead and was rather overdressed because that year everybody else just came in day dresses, the year before it had been the other way round), one off Ebay because it was a third of the price and means I have a winter coloured long dress (but it is a really tight fit and I couldn't fit into the top half for a while) and one when I found it in a charity shop because it's gorgeous and was a quarter of the cost of that brand new. They go back about five years so I guess it's only one a year. Won't be doing that on the clothes challenge though _pale_Or go out more and get the wear.
Hm. Am not actually convinced I want to spend more time at that kind of event... see later post. I do like knowing that I've got something if asked to go at short notice though.

Well I am less grumpy than yesterday, thank goodness (and thank you for the chocolate Nora). Today's event was... passable - I could have done better with more prep time but that wasn't down to just me.
Did escape early so managed to collect prescription, drop off stack of books at library so that removes another pile of stuff from the house, pick up birthday card for friend and raid W'rose. Tonight's excitement includes ironing, possibly another attempt at the dryer and packing some of the smaller charity shop carp into bags so that I can drop it off bit by bit while popping out from work - the bigger stuff will still have to wait til the weekend. Also I have a recommendation from a colleague re sheds :rotfl: so will investigate that.
Oh and having rung up the water company they are sending me a final bill for the last place, but can't transfer the account for the new place because apparently it isn't split between the flats and is still in the landlord's name. And as I've had no info from him about it and will not be paying for upstairs' water, I shall assume the water is included in my rent. So a bit of a bonus there :T
More musing later

have just hung a picture in a cupboard as part of the ongoing Super Storage Mission.
Have deposit back from old landlord which has made a lovely dent in my OD. After adding things up yesterday it looks like the move has knocked back the debtbusting by a couple of months. On the bright side, £1K of that is in my deposit and being in the flat is likely to slow down my spending in some areas in future... no room for house stuff, and limited room for clothes.
Am hoping I'll be in the interest free bit of my OD next month, which will be a fab feeling and hopefully help change my thinking a bit... less 'not enough month' and more 'how do I choose to use my hard-earned cash'. I'm carrying more cash at the minute than I used to, trying to make sure I keep at least a tenner on me, and oddly it has helped... I haven't been spending it as I'm rarely in places that need cash rather than a card, but it means when I do want just a bus ticket or coffee I can take it out of that.
In other news I have FINALLY heard back from my MSc tutor :j and he's been helpful :j so want to get the house stuff shifted and get back to my project with a clear head this time. I do need to tidy up my CV and LinkedIn profile to reflect the new stuff I'm doing at work and I suddenly want my MSc on there
(is it just me, or does 'suddenly' look really odd when you're wondering if you misspelled it?)
And I am showered and lotioned and feeling much more presentable :T . Oh and it turns out that less opaque shower curtains are a great idea when the light source is the other side of the room - I could see to read the shampoo bottles :rotfl:

No I think all words look odd if you keep looking at them, but that might just be me. I see letters and numbers in colour
Try it with your name. If I say my name aloud several times it seems really weird and my name is what you'd call normal.

Ooooh no it sounds like you're synaesthetic - how exciting! (well I guess it's not to you, but it sounds fab to people who don't see things that way)
I guess all words get a bit disconnected from meanings when you jumble them up. I shall shut up now before I start trying to remember proper language geekery from undergrad studies too long ago
It's double letters that seem to look weirdest to me.Debt free May 2016... DFW#2 in progress

Do squirrels do that? The things you learn...RosaBernicia wrote: »On the bright side, £1K of that is in my deposit and being in the flat is likely to slow down my spending in some areas in future... no room for house stuff, and limited room for clothes.

Only if you're using the secondary meaning of "Things done in a bath tub..."RosaBernicia wrote: »And I am showered and lotioned and feeling much more presentable :T . Why are you reading shampoo bottles? No I think all words look odd if you keep looking at them, but that might just be me. I see letters and numbers in colour
I find my name written down is sharply focussed and is prominent even if I'm not really concentrating on reading something. I know it's just a brain-processing trick as it happens with "Z" too...Try it with your name. If I say my name aloud several times it seems really weird and my name is what you'd call normal.
Everybody's name is normal to them. Even Fifi Trixibelle's.Although I'm probably not
Would you want to be?RosaBernicia wrote: »It's double letters that seem to look weirdest to me.
I find it's when there's a whole bunch of vowels together. I'm used to the cadence: Consonant, vowel, consonant, vowel etc."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Just caught up on your diary Rosa, sorry I've not had time until now *smacks own hand*.
I'm interested in what shed you go for, my allotment is a little neglected at the moment I will have to go pay it some tlc on the weekendat least the days are getting longer now so more light in the evening.
I get really confused by words if I look at them for too long too, although I wish I saw them in colours
If this flat is an interim flat, what would be your ideal? I've felt very interim for years now and can't settleI've moved house 10 times in the last 5 years roughly, although most of it was uni houses.
Well done on reducing the overdraft, I bet that made you feel really goodxx

Yes I think it is called synaesthesia. Weird because up until about 18 months ago I thought everyone saw letters and numbers in colourIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0

I wasn't aware that Polesalot is that common a name
Mind you, I think Squirrel Queen is fairly unusual too
There's a fab book by Joanne Harris with a character with synaethesia. I'm ashamed to say I'd never heard of it prior to that.0
