Ooh well I've had a look and there's a class with a company 2 mins down the road from me but it's £150 for a 6 week course
 that's over double what I'm paying - though it may be relevant that we're learning in a draughty room over the bar in one of the dodgier local pubs. Tutor is sorting out a studio and it's the tuition I am bothered about - I did find classes offered at one of the local gyms but they didn't sound as good as my current tutor so have stuck with her.
BTW I just Goggled to see what else is on offer here and found burlesque classes... might try that once I've got moved:j
and I can't work out where I'd put a pole as my flat has high ceilings.... Will have another look when I'm nearer my dfd I think then I can justify the expense :-)
The pole doesn't have to reach the ceiling - these are what we practice on so far

Have remembered how much I hate packing. It's dull, complicated and has to be undone immediately anyway. Think am going to leave it and go to bed. I know it will mean more trips in the car when I move but at least then I can unpack one set of boxes/ a room and come back to pack and move the next one. I've booked someone to help with the biggest stuff so that will go over on the first day and the rest can be done in the car either by myself or with friends to help move the bigger things.
I'll be glad when I'm settled - though it's all happened so fast I haven't quite figured out how to say goodbye to this place yet. Will have a quiet moment on the patio and figure that out.

Well Rosa will have you with your ankles 15 foot above the floor if you give her an opportunity..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

That's what got me started on the pole - burlesque! I went to a burlesque night and there was a pole class at the end.
If I'm honest I'm carp at burlesque....I just love the outfitsIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -

It doesn't matter how good or bad you are at it, it only matters that you enjoy it.
Don't go in expecting the worst, go in expecting it to be fun..."Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

I do expect it to be fun - and it's more fun if I know it doesn't matter if I'm carp at it, then I'm not worrying. IYSWIM.

How random, I was just talking about my weekly class with OH when I came across this threadKerri_dfw and Rosa, I recognise you both from other threads.
Kerri - if you have an x-pole you can get extensions and they can reach very high heights, the only real stipulation for a fixed pole is that you need a solid celing. Not sure where you are based in London, but I pay £60 a month for my classes (1 hr a week, 6 poles in the studio and max 6 students) its prob a bit far out for you (though my best pole buddy does travel from London) but the school has other venues or I could prob find you some recommendations if you want? Also, you don't have to have a pole at home, mine isn't up as I don't really have the room for it on a perm basis.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

You will definitely start noticing that your core strength improves which benfits everything else.
I've been doing it for nearly 3 years and I'm now (apparently) in the advanced classs. Hardcore! It's not so much dancing, more gymnastic and acrobatic now. I do feel though that I have reached my limit. Because I know how much some things hurt I'm less inclined to do them. Have you got many bruises yet? I was permanently bruised for the first year :rotfl:I don't think I can give you any tips except don't use body lotions and handcreams on pole days because you'll have no grip.
Keep at it - you'll really notice results. I have lovely toned arms nowand I like it how people are so impressed when they see me hanging upside down at 15 feet with no hands
You've been doing it nearly as long as mewould love to know who you guys all learn with, and you're so right about impressing people hanging upside down, it's deff brought the show off out in me :rotfl:
Stick at it in learning the new moves, I'm still coming home with bruises (esp from climbing) or complaining about 'bits chafing'but i think that's part of the fun, and the fact you can always develop/learn new moves has deff been what's kept my attention and kept me going. Have you done any of the PDC grading?
Sorry...didn't mean to hijack the thread....:oFeb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16
