Why should you? Is he going to take any notice? Are you his life-coach? And there's a big assumption he'd be listening to you, rather than hearing what he wanted to hear...RosaBernicia wrote: »Funnily enough I pay no attention to his relationship advice and suspect I will not be listening to the 'you must be kind to yourself' stuff I have been told over the last few days. Yes, I need to be a little more realistic about some timescales and to schedule in some rest, but I don't want to wind up the kind of self-centred twerp who takes a week off work and ditches friends in real bother to sit about and feel sorry for myself over an ego bruise.
Woah. Being kind to yourself is not about emulating Drama Queen in having dramas and being a Queen. Being kind to yourself is the act of not punishing yourself because things aren't perfect, and accepting that using your body and mind to smash through obstacles rather than going round them isn't really all that sensible.RosaBernicia wrote: »Yes, I know he has issues, so do we all and some of us just have to get on with things regardless.

You're not that different to me, and my self-delusion is weak. Though I notice you chopped the joke off...

Sometimes even I think I am unnecessarily stubborn :rotfl:
Have just finished clearing and cleaning upstairs, cleaning bathroom and kitchen, and packing car. (Magic little car has somehow swallowed a huge stack of boxes and also all the black bags with my clothes in - wanted them moved so no risk of anyone else chucking them out.) Of course it will now be at least 1.30 am by the time I get fed and to bed but at least now I'm pretty sure I can finish the packing tomorrow and Saturday will only be taking stuff to charity shop and packing garden bits. I want my Sunday off : and as landlord has been so good about missing the deadline I wanted it to be clear I've been doing plenty.
I am going to be so glad next week when I can be in one place and just start sorting through this lot. I do kind of wish I'd started going through stuff earlier as am finding a lot of things I'm not sure I need or really want to keep. So will try and remember to chuck stuff I don't need as I settle into new flat. Am still not convinced I can face fleabaying so may just give stuff to charity and hope for karmic response instead.
New place does feel like home now thoughand it will be even better when I've got all my stuff there and can stop worrying about old place. Nearly there, last few strokes... (< that was the swimming metaphor, Z, before you start...

You probably want to get that checked. It's probably not good thinking like me... :eek:Knitting_Nora wrote: »It's about being as tolerant of yourself as you are others...bit of self-tlc...leave it alone Z, there's a good chap!

I've got internet again :j:j
All stuff moved except for plants, because it started snowing. Something/body was determined to make this move as complicated as possible. I shall go back and pick them up on the weekend when I can actually be there in daylight.
All other stuff is now in the flat - it's a complete state, there is so much stuff that I literally have no space to do the sorting til I can get rid of some of it. Thanks for the BHF tip Nora - I have already asked a local charity about collecting furniture so will see if BHF could pick up boxes of other stuff on the same day. That would be fab as they would be my top choice anyway but there is nowhere to park by the local shop so I wasn't sure how I'd get several boxes to them. I do need a garden store of some sort so am hoping to get to the garden centre on the weekend and look at those.
New flat is working out very well in itself - am sleeping well, the journey to work is only 5-10 mins more than before not the 15-20 I expected, and I like the layout. In some ways it's actually nicer than the house as it's really just the right size for me. I don't really need more stuff than I can fit in here and it means I'm not maintaining extra rooms etc. I think this could work out very nicely. Oh and it is just completely marvellous to have heating that actually works when you tell it to. I get to go to bed and wake up in a lovely warm room :T instead of diving under the duvet shivering and taking 20 mins to work up the courage to get out of it in the morning. I've actually been getting to work on time :rotfl:
Drama Queen has redeemed himself as he did help to get everything moved on the weekend. And have now met some lovely neighbours.
Off to catch up on everybody else's diaries now, wonder what excitement I've missed?

:jOoooo, you're back! You're back, you're back, you're back *runs up and smooches the inside of Missus B's screen* :j
Not that *ahem* I missed you at all....:D
As for the garden store - I swear by Argos and their 'Store it out' plastic sheds (excellent size one currently at £99 if you can manage it). I've had mine for about 7 years, and it's been moved all over the country in that time (no idea why they're classing it as 'new' on their web page!). Wonderful thing, and like the tardis.

I am back and it's soooo good... am amazed how many things you can't get done outside working hours without the net.
Tonight's mission (aside from pole class, which was less fun this time as was tired and grumpy) has been to sort out my bills file which is good 'cos now I feel my finances are coming under control again.
Tomorrow nights will be picking up a big airer from Argoose and attempting to work the washing machine. Plus starting to work through the list of who needs to be told I've moved lol... and possibly even setting up the printer.
I can't wait for the weekend - looking forward to relaxing properly after all this madness

Glad you're settling in nicely :T to a nice warm bedroom, especially in this weather.
Roll on the weekendIt's not how far you fall - it's how high you bounce back.... :jHappiness is not a destination - it's a journey0 -
Weeelll the good news is that I have the airer, it's a good design (absolutely gigantic but folds up in different ways and has wheels), and it was a tenner cheaper than expected. Though this is probably partly because it wasn't packaged prettily and had to be put together almost from scratch. Combined with missing the junction for the retail park that's been the bad news - about 1 1/2 hours I wasn't planning on wasting this evening.
First load is now in new washer/ dryer which is absolutely gigantic :j so will see how that goes and try drying it off at least partly. The airer will still be good to cut down the electricity use especially in summer.
Haven't managed to cook as was too grumpy but did stop at supermarket on the way back, so am just eating bits and pieces. Must find out where local one is and try that out instead of going further away to previous one. Also managed to clear the last couple of boxes out of the car, so now that just has furniture in to go to charity as soon as I can find the time to run over there. Unfortunately neither they nor the British Heart Foundation will collect outside Mon-Fri - er, that's when I'm at work which is why I don't have time to deliver it  so think I will have to take the furniture myself either tomorrow lunchtime or on Saturday morning. The other charity shop stuff is now at least rounded up into boxes on one chair and I will either also run that over to the shop or stick it in the car and ask them to collect from me at work. Once the washing is done (currently stacked up in my room due to not getting round to it the week before I moved and not being able to find anything the week after) I will have space in my room to sort out clothes which means I can move the black bags off the sofa
. Then I just need the garden store sorted to get a few more things sent outside and things will be getting there.
Fed up of sorting stuff and want a night off, so might just have one tomorrow.
