Pffft my brain's gone completely. Pole class last night which was fab, but got migraine on way home which wiped out any packing and then I couldn't sleep. So got about 3 hours sleep before trekking off to meeting in the city. (Is it very naughty that the deciding factor in bothering was the fact that cute colleague had confirmed? He didn't show though
) Am now completely wiped and can't think further than 'must wash up before bed'.
Day was OK and I did return stuff to John Luwis - of course I also bought a couple of small things in the saleand got myself a new purse as I finally found one I wanted, but the purse was Christmas money anyway and the other stuff is still a much better use of money than the dress, plus still ended up with about £15 refund. I'll untangle how much Christmas money I should put aside for myself once I get through this payday and can sort out the new rent and bills etc.
I :heartpuls AutoAid - not only were they fabulous during the recovery, they have accepted my claim slightly beyond their time limit (I rang up when I hadn't heard anything and it seems to have gone AWOL in the Christmas post), sent me a letter to say they were processing the resent copy, and have now sent me a cheque only a couple of days later. They've got to be about the best value £38 I've spent in ages. That cheque will be paid in tomorrow and I think I will work on paying the overdraft off again rather than taking it off the credit card - the interest rates are much the same and tackling the OD seems far more achievable.
Quidcop have also finally sorted another £45 which should be turning up at the end of the month, and mum has said that my train fare to the funeral will be covered (didn't ask how, but much appreciated at this point) so that's another £120 that will come straight back off the credit card after all. Haven't spent as much as I expected the last couple of weeks, probably because I haven't been doing much or stocking up.
Have managed to empty the freezer and will check through house insurance tonight (there's a minimum requirement for the contract and I am not convinced their recommendation is cheapest, so will check and phone around tomorrow morning), have achieved naff all packing but did manage to buy bags yesterday so will try and get some done tomorrow before I get the train (bags are mum's recommendation for book transport after much experimentation when they cleared gran's house). So hopefully will still be able to move furniture on the weekend and the rest over a couple of days. All feels a bit of a rush - suddenly realised today it's the last time I'll make that particular journey as in future it will be easier to get the train, etc. So am hoping new place will be so fab I won't have a disorientated wobble next week.
Am not looking forward to tomorrow or Friday but guess it's just muddle through and enjoy seeing people I haven't for ages. This too will pass, etc, in another week or so things will be different.

Be careful that for a few weeks after moving that autopilot doesn't take your car to the wrong house...

I haven't disappeared, I've just been internet-less. And having a minor meltdown - funnily enough it turns out that going to a funeral and then attempting to move house in the space of three days, almost entirely single-handed, is not such a great plan.
Lovely old landlord has been fine when I explained it will probably take til the weekend to get everything moved - I've got the big stuff, but not all the bits and pieces I hadn't packed because I didn't know when I'd be away, and things I'd forgotten like the cupboard under the stairs boxes. The rest of the meltdown was basically shock - and I had kinda forgotten that I really am not very good at moving. I get very attached to places and put a lot of work into them so it is always a bit odd leaving. But am slowly sorting the new place so it will be fine. Friend nearby has offered loft space for a few things I was stressing about not being able to store so that will do very well as at least an interim solution.
Will be chasing up getting internet tomorrow as being without it has really wound me up - and work dongle doesn't get enough reception to be any help.
I hope everybody else is having a less complicated week and will catch up on diaries as soon as I'm back online.

Err...no. But it's not like you could have moved the funeral to a more convenient time.

Hey Sweetie
Like the man says - :grouphug:
You're dealing with two of the three most stressful things on the planet (number 3 is getting married)...don't forget to give yourself (and demand from others) lots of tlc.
And how lovely to be the sort of soul who puts so much of herself into each home - I honestly believe you can feel that sort of thing in the house. It must be a pleasure to visit you, and lovely to rent a place after you've been living there - and how cool to be starting on a new place....oooo, the sheer potential of a blank canvas....:)

Are you cancerian Rosa? I am, my home is very important to me.
I cried buckets when I left my first flat (but then I was 6 months pregnant...)
As knitting nora says your last place will be lovely for the new occupier.
If you're already getting the new place sorted after such a short time it's a good sign.

Thank you lovely people :grouphug:
I finally called the friend who was meant to be helping me move in the evenings yesterday and it turned out he's had a rotten week as well - wished I'd called earlier as we could have kept each other's misery company! So is just as well I told old landlord it will probably take me til the weekend - basically I really am having to do the vast majority of stuff myself. Of course it would have been simpler if I'd packed more in advance but my brain went to cotton wool with being upset and not knowing when I'd be away.
Poles, I'm not a Cancerian sun sign but I think it does show up in my natal chart somewhere. I did quite literally spend Sunday and Monday mostly in tears and Sunday wishing I hadn't had to move. Fortunately now I seem to have flipped to seeing the new place as home, it's just going to be a very over-filled and messy one for a few weeks while I get it sorted. I do miss the huge garden here but the new place is warm lol!
I was meant to be going to a work meeting today but called in sick - bit annoyed as the project was my idea, but felt rotten this morning as had cramps on top of approaching bronchitis. So an extra 3 hours sleep has really helped with both and I think I'll manage two runs OK today. That should finish off the kitchen and living room, which leaves me just the bedroom to do hopefully tomorrow and on Thursday I can stop on the way back from work and pack up what's left of the front room. Saturday my friend is going to help so we can get the bedroom furniture that I can't move by myself and the garden stuff. Am really really hoping to have a proper day off on Sunday as I feel I've done nothing but work and worry for weeks.
Must sort internet changeover now

Rosa, I can totally realte to how you feel/felt about moving (and nevermind you've had other stresses to deal with as well) I hate moving, everytime I've moved its felt like some huge emotinal wrench, even moving out of halls at uni and I didn't even really have any great attachment there! Before we moved into the place we're in now, we lost another house we'd planned to move into - I honestly turned into some emotional dribble sobbing one night 'but I've invested emotionally into the house' I wailed to my poor bemused OH who couldn't quite work out how choosing potential colour schemes for a house we hadn't moved to was 'emotion investment'
I kinda agree with him now, esp as i prefer where we did move to.

Well progress is being made - I feel a whole lot better this afternoon and have got on with things in kind of my usual standard! Only two rooms left to do now, bedroom and front room. I still have the whole day tomorrow so will concentrate on the bedroom and as old landlord has said he'll be around on Thursday night, I might ask him to help me load stuff and just get friend to help unload at the other end - he'll probably manage that even if he won't come over. (Am now pretty cross at him for not telling me he wouldn't be around to help, I was expecting to have two pairs of hands and two cars for at least one night this week so no wonder it's taking longer. And it just seems to take so much time when you're working alone instead of chattering.)
Phone and broadband now ordered - £20/ month for both - but have gone with my broadband company as I'm happy with them and the phone one haven't had very good feedback. I'm not tied into a contract for the phone so can switch later - and anyway just want it sorted and would otherwise have had to pay reconnection fee. Should be done in 5 days or so :j ... am amazed how lost I feel without internet connection!
Off to load up car and hopefully get to bed at a decent time tonight - am fed up of unloading in the dark, but wasn't getting up in time to do otherwise as felt so rotten in the mornings. Nearly there, nearly there...
