  • Thank you lovely people :grouphug:

I will miss her and think of her but I am glad she's at peace now.

Contract now signed so new flat is definitely mine - and they let me pay the advance rent rather than the deposit which gives me a little more leeway til payday. Just as well since the robbing barstewards on the trains want a minimum of £120 return. Still, it's only just more than the petrol, a lot more relaxing and much safer when distracted. We have a provisional date for the funeral and it's the day before I get the keys for new flat, but everyone understands why I won't be able to stay overnight afterwards.

First dance class was this evening and it was great fun so that has taken me out of myself and cheered me up. There are not many things that motivate me to do push-ups but for some reason if it means I will be able to turn myself upside down I will :rotfl:. Also made 'accidental' detour into Hotel Chocolat for medicinal purposes after the shock (Gran would approve) and to celebrate new flat.

It looks like 2012 is going to be a year with some changes, and I believe most of them will be positive.

Congrats on signing the contract! And may I commend you on your accidental detour - seeing as she'd've approved, sounds like your Gran was an upstanding lady *raises a glass in her honour*

And before Z gets in here and says it - don't just believe that 2012 will have positive changes...demand it! (I'll lend you my cape so you can stand, hands on hips, 'Superman' style and stare off into the distance as your cape flaps out behind you...).

Thinking of you Rosa, I've sent you a PM regarding your rail fare.
Congratulations on signing for the flat and them giving you a bit of a break with the deposit/rent :)

She'd approve of that too... I'm inheriting the winemaking equipment :D :rotfl:

  • Hmmm... DFing not terribly successful atm but it has been an incredibly complicated week. Am really hoping the rest of 2012 doesn't continue like this.

Ended up in M&S again for today's lunch and went out with a friend for Chinese this evening. However, won't be doing coffee and cake on the weekend so reckon this is excused. Will be able to return dress without extra trip as do have to go to meeting in the city, so that's £55 coming back into current account next week and Quidco have finally confirmed another £45 due at the end of the month. (Am unimpressed as have been waiting 7 months for it.) Should have £200 coming back for batterysaga claim and £300 returned deposit, so am hoping can clear off the second overdraft that I've had to use to pay advance rent pretty much immediately. Payday has come round faster than I expected so I may also be able to switch some back from main account OD and at least feel that I've only got one left to work on.

On the downside, will have to pay out £140 on a credit card tomorrow as I crunched a brakelight on the car last week and the whole light cluster has to be replaced. (Tired, grumpy, windows fogged up, people hovering too close either side when I reversed out of the space in the supermarket car park, and although I managed to avoid the unlit, see-through trolley shelter with the bumper I didn't spot that the handrail around it was wider than my bumper was.) I know I could probably get it done cheaper but I just don't have the time or energy to chase up garages right now, and I want to be able to stop worrying about whether it's technically roadworthy and what happens if I get stopped and asked about it. I need the car for moving and work so can't just leave it at home and wait.

The date of the funeral has been confirmed so I can book a train ticket now. Am really cheesed off at being informed I will have to sleep on the bed settee since my/ the guest room is full of boxes but that's a rant for another day (and it's about general consideration for guests, not just this situation). I suppose I could book a hotel and if I wasn't paying out for so much else at the same time I would do, but right now I'd rather suffer a carp night's sleep and dressing in the bathroom than give up another £70. At least it's only one night as I have the excuse of moving to get straight on the train afterwards.

Weekend plans are... tomorrow night will be packing, Saturday packing and trip to garden centre to investigate storage sheds, Sunday day out with local wildlife group and guess what, packing. Hopefully worth it to make the move go smoothly though.

Really am going to bed at a decent time tonight... my green light is going off now, honest

Unless you're planning to be moving at regular intervals - it won't be.

    That's not very usual... ;)

Yep, that's what I miss about the old-style lights. Even BMW have the all-in clusters now, and they were about the last with the 3/5 series.

  • Well turns out a good night's sleep is pretty effective - felt better this morning.

Also found out that my second account overdraft is interest free til April :j - thank you very much Cooper Bank, will be paying back the other one first instead then.

And had a letter from lovely AutoAde saying that they can't refund my hotel breakfast or internet access charges but will be sending me a cheque for the other £270. I can live with that, especially as it's about £50 more than I remembered :T

I clearly still can't be trusted in homewares departments as went to look for cheap hand weights to use with Pilates DVD and came home with not just a reasonable set of those but also two chip n'dip plates since they were reduced to £2 each (less than half price). At this rate I will be able to cater for about 12... shame there won't be room for that many in the flat :rotfl:

Speaking of Pilates, suppose I'd better get on with it

Sorry to hear about your Gran. Lots going on for you at the moment. although distraction isn't always the remedy.
