But if organ donation had led to a death of a loved one (when they were alive of couse), it may put that person off donating when they die.
It was just another example of why someone may not want to go on the register.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

Which brings us back to brettcta's question, why would it put them off? A fear of dying again?I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0 -
brettcta .... aahh i think i see, it was a joke. Yes ?
Having finished reading the thread the only people i can understand that refuse to donate are those with strong religious beliefs. Thank God i'm atheist so don't need to take that into consideration.
I've been on the donor list since i was a teenager, they can take anything that's of any use and that includes any parts that aren't suitable for transplant but could help further medical research. The bits leftover just throw in the wheelie bin on Monday morning.
The whole thread seems to be about donation after death, why wait that long. If you could help save the life of someone while you're still alive wouldn't you do it. I know i would. If i've got two of anything when i could make do with one and my spare one could save a life, i wouldn't give it a second thought, they could have it.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Well I can't speak for other faiths, but the Catholic Church are all for donation, so that rules that out.I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0

Because they might just hate the thought of organ donation in any shape or form.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I'm not on the register at the moment, mainly because I have a strong phobia about being cut open. Is that irrational? Probably so, but that doesn't lessen my fear.
That said, I don't hate the idea and should I get over my phobia one day, maybe I'll consider being on it. In the meantime I'm more than happy to give blood and I'm on the bone marrow register.
I've read through the thread and am a bit concerned at the idea that people who aren't on the register for reasons other than medical simply do it out of spite. I'm not on it, but it's certainly not out of spite.Dec GC; £208.79/£220

Hate the thought of saving another person's life? About giving a kid a few more years with their mum/dad? Well that just sums up why I feel how I do.I'm not bad at golf, I just get better value for money when I take more shots!0 -
I am on the register but I think it is an incredibly personal thing. I wouldn't judge anyone who wanted to remain off the register.0
