It is c of e school but not on the criteria to go, our local school. head has just completed his work/ degree to become a stand in curate at a church near to where he lives , few miles away from school< aswell as headteacher for the school.I agree with what most people are saying. It could also be that the school want to choose pupils who are most well known to the local community, ie people see them at church a lot and are familar with the families.
Out of interest is it a christian school or strongly linked to the church?wendy x0 -
op - why do you think it should be a lottery? do you think unsuitable/disruptive/naughty children should be given the chance to embarrass the school? your child will then be given a reputation for just attending that school.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Sounds like a good plan, there must be some reason behind it and maybe he will realise that all children in the school should count, not just a select few.GobbledyGook wrote: »I don't see any harm at all in mentioning that your son has commented on it and you wondered if they could clarify how children are picked for things like this so that you can explain it to him.

Not on the criteria but the head obviously like this and wants to choose pupils involved in both the school and the church. When a school is linked to a church it's often assumed that the pupils will attend on occasion. It might not seem fair to you or other parents but it's the schools choice and it seems like the head is certainly very enthusiastic about religion. Perhaps he is even thinking it will encourage more pupils to attend church. It is c of e school but not on the criteria to go, our local school. head has just completed his work/ degree to become a stand in curate at a church near to where he lives , few miles away from school< aswell as headteacher for the school.Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0 -
As with most things that are wrong in life, here is another one that is definitely Gods fault. What do you think of the church attendees apparently being favoured, is that a good school for your son?Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I really dont think this would happen, i feel it should be open to any child who would like to try, it is only ever 3 children max with at least 2 teachers/ assistants, maybe it's just me but i think it shouldnt always be the same ever time. Yes there maybe a couple of Disruptive/ naughty children ever school has them , who would say they would want to go anyway, just given the chance might be good.Being the centre of attention may just be what they need and for them to feel important to. every child matters, every child is special, school just doesnt seem to see that.dirtysexymonkey wrote: »op - why do you think it should be a lottery? do you think unsuitable/disruptive/naughty children should be given the chance to embarrass the school? your child will then be given a reputation for just attending that school.wendy x0 -
Talk to the Head, tell them you and other parents (no, you can't tell him their names - the conversations were confidential) have noticed there seems to be favouritism and could they tell you how children are picked to represent the school..................
....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)0
