    Debt-free and Proud!
Morning all! Hugs to those who want or need them :grouphug:

A grey start to the morning but the sun is starting to shine and I think I can see blue sky. Going to head into town at lunchtime as I need to pick up some bits from Mr T's. DH has gone to Scarboro with a colleague so I can shop in peace :p

Quiet at work again, think I may do some online xmas shopping later.
Tea tonight is sausage and mash. Trying to make room in the freezer ready to fill for xmas but it never seems to look any emptier.

Catch up with you all later xxx
  • Oh talking of my flatmate, can anyone help. She accidentally put the iron directly on the carpet yday  It was literally for a few seconds and the iron wasn't 100% warm, but it has left a small mark on the carpet. However there is now residue on the iron itself. Any suggestions on how to remove it, or is it new iron time? And any suggestions for the carpet?

    Cheers

    Morning all,

Happy Birthday Hester :bdaycake:Glad you had a great day.
The house is quite tidy from the weekend viewing so not much to do,mopped the kitchen floor free of big doggy pawprints, emptied DW,BM is on.Tea will be steak pie using the leftover beef in red wine from yesterday-the men do love a pie :D
Visitors after tea,so will do tea quite early.DH & DS1 have some work to do this week, and went out really early.
I have made 50 Xmas cards and I think I'll leave it at that,if I need anymore I've got a pack of bought ones,I'd like to get them written and out of the way.I want to do some sewing this aft,my neighbour has asked me to make a frilly pinny & mob cap from an old dress, there is a Victorian market here in Dec. and she is having a stall-the traders are dressing up.I've got a top I made & never finished as I messed up the neckline, but I bought some satin bias binding and shall have a go with that.
The people came for their 2nd viewing .They were talking about making an offer, but no calls from the EA yet. They did ask how quick we could be out as they would want to move in by Christmas -less than 5 weeks now .DH said it would have to be a really good offer to get him out before Cmas.

Right quick sandwich then I can get sewing.

Beemuzed- sorry to hear DS is in hospital again,it must be such a worry for you.Hugs x

Hugs for anyone else in need xx

    Flutterbyuk -
Ah yes - I did this myself many years ago and it was the only time we ever put in a claim on the household insurance - lovely iron print on brand new carpet that went right through the open plan ground floor! I think from memory we bought a small rug as it would have been such a waste to replace the lot - and the mark did fade in time. As to the iron I'd gently use a panscraper (type for nonstick pans) on it. I think the residue will come off, but you don't want to damage the iron surface.

    Hello everyone,

Just sat and caught up with the threads from Thursday, sorry to hear so many are still suffering from the thurgy, hope you get better soon.
Sorry to hear about the loss of your family pet as well(Iforget whose it was, sorry). We have lost two dwarf hamsters over the last few months, I know they are just little things but I had to hold both of them in my hand, talking and stroking them until they actually died and you know, I sobbed harder than my two dds (whose hamsters they were!). Then I had to bury them! No more pets for us because I just can't cope with the emotions. (That may sound really strange coming from a 45 yr old :o). We now have a syrian hamster left and I'm dreading when he goes, because I'm quite close to him!!!

Anyway, back to os, I tried the bm at the weekend and it was a mess, haven't a clue what I did wrong but it was urgh. I will try again though.

Not much to report, as I said, my life appears to be quite boring compared to everyone else. All the washing and drying was done at the weekend, I have a few things to iron, thats all. Am in work until Thursday until late as usual. I had my letter re my job last week to say it was proposed that it would stay and will have the final confirmation in the new year however, if I want to apply for vol redundancy, that application has to be in by beginning of December so what to do? Just been having a chat with a friend who took vol redundancy and she finishes at the end of the month but with no job to go to. It is worrying and I hope she will be ok.

Going to have sausages and cauli cheese for tea as I want to use everything up in the freezer and defrost it at the weekend.

Best wishes to all for today.

    Ally

    Hi everyone,

Happy birthday Hester - I hope you and the Minder celebrated in traditional fashion!

Beemuzed, I was so sorry to hear about DS, it must be so painful for you all.

Jackie O, we wnet to Sea Palling when the kids were children for a week. The beach is lovely and very clean and there is lots to do in the area. Have you ever been to Cromer? If not it is just the sort of place you would enjoy.

I'm having a quiet day today, I feel a bit grotty, but I have to make a loaf. I've got some sour cream left over from the weekend and Dan Lepard has a recipe for a loaf which uses it so I shall make that, otherwise I don't think it would be used. I'll report back on whether it is any good.

I've reinvigorated my WWatchers diet because I've been slipping a bit (well a lot) and I'd like to lose another half stone by Christmas.

I also want to continue with my Christmas patchwork so I'd better get on.
