OS Daily Thread for Monday 21st November

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Monday 21st November. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    happy belated birthday hester
Morning everyone, ready to start another freeeezing cold week? I know I'm not! OH left for work just now with leftovers from dinner last night and some crazy "i want to bake but have virtually no ingredients" brownies, I shall also be taking left overs to work in a mo but i'm so tired I don't feel like eating IYKWIM.
I emailed amazon last night about my six month old uggs being ruined and they emailed right back offering a refund :)
Today I need to go to the post office, get washing powder, do washing, make bread, make cookies, make a few freezer meals, revise for my three exams for an hour each. This is all on top of 6 hours at work and 3 hours at uni, will I manage it? Who knows :p: I'm getting pretty good at multi-tasking so doing washing and all the cooking at the same time shouldn't be a problem. I want to get confident using my hands behind my back so I can cook whilst watching youtube maths videos.

  • Good morning everyone.
Happy birthday Hester :bdaycake::beer:, so pleased that you got your kindle.
Island maid, sorry to hear about Bruno, animals are very much part of the family.
Very foggy here again today. WM is on, it's not very often it gets a break. Gammon steaks are defrosting in the fridge for tea tonight. Not sure what to have with them yet. Got to get packed lunches sorted before i get ready for work.
Hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

Hester - happy birthday for yesterday - have a good day today xxx

Halight - hope twin feels better soon

FW - thought you might be starting the thread this morning!!

My house looks like a bomb has hit - I so didn't know where to start cleaning and tidying it up - so I fled from it with the kids on Friday. Came back to it yesterday and by the time I went to bed I'd caught up on all the washing and collected 4 bags of rubbish and countless cardboard boxes which I'll take to the skip today. Also bought several large see through plastic boxes. Got dinner for tonight out of the freezer - chicken casserole and have this morning respun the washing!

Need to empty the car from the weekend at Mums (loads of junk!) and then fill the car with rubbish for the skip. Have sold our old desk, chest of drawers and bedside tables and two bookcases. Have another person interested in the wardrobe - held until Friday! and still have cabin beds to get rid of. Doing all of this because we need to declutter and I've just had enough - so am putting my foot down with a firm hand!! Mum is coming to give me a hand on Thursday, so need to have made progress by then!!

Hugs to Lou and any others who need them xxx
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx
