Any WSE's been having some weird audits over the last couple of days? Seems as if we've got a new person assessing us, only what they're saying goes against everything we've previously been told despite the fact that the guidelines haven't changed. To be fair, I actually agree with some of their ratings more - but not all.. :undecided Currently kind of worried about what next week's metrics are going to look like as a result of all this, though...Gutted.com!!! After being overjoyed at passing the extremely stressful 50 question bank and thinking I've made it, I was then told they have introduced further testing! A 20hour timed test where you must rate a curtain amount per hour!!
FAilED!!! No second chance contract terminated!!! So never made it to production!
There were 30 of us in the welcome meeting 3 weeks ago I think only 10 of us passed the question bank. I wonder how many made it past the 20 hour test! At least they are paying me for a weeks training! (Note you only get that if you pass the question bank)
Oh well suppose I better have a look at this crowd sourcing gig then!
On a side note: I got more right than wrong on test!
That's very harsh, Flash.Think I missed the quality metrics every week for my first 4 or 5 weeks of doing the job, so this new process definitely seems stricter. Have you thought about either Lionbridge or Leapforce, or have you already had dealings with one or both previously?

not as much work available with LP though but at the moment any money is better than no money!0 -
IMHO we need to be audited less or the system needs to be adjusted... It is super annoying to wake up to a bunch of audits that you barely missed because of extremely minor and trivial things.
Not to mention getting pulled from production only to ace the test is extremely frustrating.0 -
I HATE the Audits.
My heart always drops when I see I have some, as they are what caused me to be removed from production a few months ago.
They're so unrepresentative - we judge thousands of pages each week, but yet can be removed from working based on a dozen or so Audits.
Mallrat I agree with you. I have also noticed RTA standards changing. I've notice a couple of examples of conflicting guidelines over the last few weeks.
Managed to get through the whole of yesterday without a single error - I nearly fell to the floor in disbelief!!0 -

I had planned to do pretty much do 4 hours straight due to constraints later in the day...
I noticed last week they reduced hours to 0 a couple of days of due to tech issues..... but with Christmas approaching I need to do the hours. Very annoying indeed.
Out of interest, do any of you have any tips on timekeeping software?
I have been using Grindstone, but it can cause my system to lag a bit, and is prone to crashing, so just wondering if anyone has any recommendations?0 -
Just thought I'd jump in here. Having had experience with both LF and ABH, I can say for sure that ABH is a far better company in terms of presentation. The people are nice and it's a pretty friendly place. But that's where the pros end, the work itself is poorly designed - the metrics are terribly strict, and to be honest they don't really represent the guidelines very well. It really is 'luck of the draw' if you are able to suceed at ABH. But it's partially not their fault, as the client is the one who decides the metrics and to be honest I think the client has a lot to answer for. The worst problem faced by Appen is the toolbar the client uses. It's really the worst piece of rating software I've ever had to use.
LF on the other hand are, in my opinion a very unfriendly company - there is no interaction with the staff, and almost all messages are automated and support questions go unanswered. ABH shine compared to LF in this department. That being said, the work is much easier and the guidelines are very easy to follow. LF's metrics are far more forgiving and you can get a lot more work down at a stress-free pace.0
