I have loads of eating apples & need to use them up somehow.
Any suggestions or recipes would be great.0 -
I use eating apples for apple crumble if I have a load of them, it still gets eaten !0
-
Why not stew them with a bit of sugar and then freeze - you can use them for loads of things in the coming months like pie filling, ice cream flavouring, compotes, chutneys & jams etc0
-
What about making some apple jelly? So easy to make and can be used on toast, or with meats etc.

I like using apples in baking as well if I have excess. Apple tea cake & strudels are two of our favourites.Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia.0

You can use eating apples to cook with.
You may not need as much sugar, and the apples do not tend to become pulpy as a Bramley apple would.
I find Golden Delicious, Granny Smiths and Cox apples more than suitable for cooking.
Hope this helps

I did pork rib chops in the slow cooker yesterday. Got them cheap at Morrisons on Weds. Browned them in a pan and put them in SC with onion, garlic, celery, mushrooms, sliced apples, a stock cube, a spoonful of paprika, a spoonful of coriander seeds. Poured a pint of cider over the top and cooked on low for about 12 hours, after which I thickened the sauce up a bit with some cornflour. We had it with baked spuds and it was divine, will definitely be making it again. I ate the leftovers for lunch today with some couscousOfficial DFW Nerd No 096 - Proud to have dealt with my debt!0
