I made apple jam with a bag of cooking apples that my friend gave me. It was sooo easy and is delicious. Literally 7 cups of peeled and thinly sliced apples in a huge saucepan with 6 cups of sugar, and juice of 2 lemons. (I just had limes, so used the juice from them, and it's a wee bit sweet for me, so would maybe use a bit less sugar). All in the big pot, and boiled for maybe 1/2 hr til setting stage reached. My dh said it was 'outstanding' and he is dead hard to please, so I'm happy.

(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...

  • Hi everyone,

    I'm after some help please:D

I have been given lots of apples from someone at work who has apple trees in their garden. I am looking for some good (and easy) receipes to use them up. Has anyone got any apple receipes that they would be kind enough to share with me please.

    thanks x

Pie, crumble, baked :D As this has fallen from the front page of OS, I'll add it to the existing thread to give you more ideas.

    Hi everyone,

I don't usually post much on here but I love reading the forums! Usually if I have somthing that needs using up, I can always find a topic where someone else had the same ingredient, and there are loads of helpful recipes. But I've searched for this one and all I could find was a topic with recipes for a mixture of cooking and eating apples. I don't really want to buy cooking apples because I don't want to spend the money on them, and also that would increase the amount of apples I have to use up! I don't have tonnes - only about 6, but they're past their best for eating as they are, and I really don't want to throw them away - so does anyone have any ideas for recipes that will use up my eating apples?

    Thanks in advance!
