Wow, i can't believe the number of people questioning the boys story-whatever the 'reasons' may be, there is absolutley no excuse whatsoever for that sort of behaviour towards a child.
If one of my boys told me that someone had behaved inappropriatley towards them, then I would believe them until there was proof to believe otherwise. What sort of parent would doubt their child-my children know they can tell me anything and not have to worry that they won't be believed.
Mirror, I hope your son doesn't let this worry him too much and I hope he has a fab birthday! xxx0 -
It doesn't matter if the boys were fighting, messing around or anything else an adult has no right pushing an 11 year old around.
I think it's admirable that a stranger should stop and intervene in a fight. I'm amazed that anyone should think that this man has done anything wrong, even if the son is telling the truth.0 -

Any parent with any sense knows that most children lie at least part of the time.
"My child, right or wrong" is the sort of attitude that leads to parents refusing to back up schools in matters of discipline and encourages children and young adults to believe that they can do what they like and get away with it.0 -

Intervene in a fight? He threatened two children and physically assaulted one of them. I'm amazed that you think that is acceptable behaviour.Sell £1500

But, assuming ALL children lie - smacks of the denial of childrens evidence of child molestation by catholic priests. Their PARENTS assumed the kids lied! they didnt, and how many kids have been damaged by this?
How many parents have claimed kids lie when they say they have been molested? the police used to assume that too - but they dont now. Why? because kids dont usually lie about important matters - any more than adults do.
To say ALL kids lie is stupid - not all kids lie! just as not all adults lie! some PEOPLE are honest and trustworthy - they are as kids and they are as adults.0 -

That's what the OP's son said happened; she said they were fighting and hitting each other.
If more adults were brave enough to intervene in street violence, the world would be a better place.0 -

Plenty of children lie about this and even more threaten that they'll do so.
There's even a current thread on here where a family's been torn apart because of the child's false allegations.0 -
one of our pupils was walking to school when this older lady got off her bike and proceeded to clobber poor child over the head with her large bag whilst screaming obscenities at her. pupil was a lovely girl and arrived at school very upset (as i would have been). police came over straight away - came out that this had happened a few times before to others but on their way home and school hadn't been told. police haven't caught her yet but i live in hope.
just thought i would give you my view on this as this attack was totally unprovoked'We're not here for a long time, we're here for a good time0 -

The post I read said that the boy said they were mucking about punching each other, to me (mother of three sons) that indicates boys' horseplay but even if they were fighting it is no excuse for an adult to assault the boy. As I said in an earlier post I have intervened more than once when I have seen a child being bullied for have never needed to assault anyone.
Why do you see it as street violence when two children are mucking about but not when an adult commits an assault?
Common assault, particularly when the victim is a child, is serious as this man will hopefully find out.Sell £1500

That is awful, a guy I work with was assaulted in the street today. The woman has mental health problems and apparently he was the second person she attacked. You can't feel safe anywhere.Sell £1500
