Big shame you didn't keep the first letter, as that one doesn't tell you much.
Without it can only make guesses based on that and what their "normal" business appears to be from their website.
That is just it! we did not get the first letter, I would have acted on that, the strange thing is the letter is addressed to MR & MS so they know we both went BR on the same day. MOJ are looking into it and have promised me a call backIf you woke up this morning congratulations, you have another chance :j0 -
Ah....
I remembered this bit in your first post and thought you meant you had received it but shredded it?Anybody heard or had dealings with this shower? Claim Advice Service for discharged bankrupts, letter went in the shredder
But you say later you didn't actually get it?
Either way, shame you don't have it.
With this sort of thing you do have to wonder whether any original was really sent?
It's a common tactic for companies to refer to a "fictitious" previous letters in order to suck you in and make you contact them; whereas if they just put in the letter what it was about most people would just bin it as junk mail.
Debt collectors use the same dishonest tactic.
The whole "despite previous demands/correspondence blah blah blah", when you know damn well they are telling porkies and there haven't been any.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Sorry my mistake on the shredder bitI thought my oh had shredded it but he didn't. We only got the one letter I have scanned in, you are right they all use these tactics to lure in the innocent and the curious, no doubt the fees are high and payable by the ex br as they know dam well we would have to pay them. Nice little earner

Very interesting, and well done for taking action on what they appear to be suggesting.
The fact that they are implying you even have a right to make the claim in the first place is misleading. That right transferred to the OR on the date of your bankruptcy so they are doing at least 2 things;
1) Implying that you have a right to MAKE the claim, when you do not,
and
2) Implying that you could benefit from monies received, which you can't.

I had exactly the same letter today. Said they sent me a letter in October which I have never had. Shredding best idea I think.0

Please report them and forward the letter on. If everyone just shreds these letters then these companies will continue to trade and may make money out of the vulnerable. If they are repeatedly reported then something can be done to stop them. When I joined, I needed a name. The forum members gave one to me...I am INAN

So this seems to be their preferred tactic?
I suppose it makes sense as it...
(a) Makes people more likely to bite and phone them up, where they can then try to convince you that you can claim. Perhaps more likely to net customers that way?
(b) They never actually have to put in writing exactly what their service is? presumably because they know damn well that the BR is not entitled to make the claim or receive it's proceeds, and they would prefer not to have a written record where they claim otherwise as a widespread marketing ploy?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Strangely, there's no limited company name, registration number or registered office on their letterhead, which would imply they were not a limited company? Would you really do this business as a sole trader?
No company registered at Companies House with the name either.
If you google the address, it appears to be a residential bungalow.0
