  • The letter arrived today and is headed 'Consumer Information' it then goes on to say:

Compensation for discharged bankrupts important notice

Consequence to a court ruling last year you should be aware that as a discharged bankrupt, you may be in a position to claim compensation. This important issue has not been advertised or featured in the media and as a consequence you are probably unaware of the possibility open to you.

As this matter requires thorough explanation in respect to qualifying criteria we would welcome your call on FREEPHONE XXXX XXX XXXX, to enable us to clarify matters for you.

Sounds very woolly but official at the same time!!

Footnote says Simply Credit Claims are regulated by the Ministry of Justice under registration no. *******

Could you ask them EXACTLY which court ruling this was? Names, court and date.

The debt advice industry is certainly not aware of any ruling that would allow such claims to be made!

  • Got the pack of information pack today - made me chuckle to read this bit -

Do not believe all you read or hear
Do not be put off making a claim if you are discharged from bankruptcy because you have seen comments on the internet consumer forums, from so called experts, saying that you will not be paid out

I can only assume they mean places like here - but I know who I believe and its not them! :rotfl::rotfl:

I assume they are talking about the Supreme Court PPI one. The one that has bu**er all to do with claiming after BR.

Obviously they word that in such a way so that there is maximum chance you will misconstrue the meaning and reach the wrong conclusion. ;)
