No-body is really sure yet as what will be if im correct. The earliest Nanos that were sent off received the same new 1st gen nano back. Where as the most recent 1st gen nanos that are being sent back seem to be receiving 6th gen ones...

I sent mine off about 6-7 weeks ago, possibly more (a 4g) and just got back a 6th generation 8gb nano-result! Very glad OH picked up on it on techradar, as I don't often look in this section...

Sent mine off on 18 Nov and got one back today. Not sure what it is, it's tiny and square with a touch screen thing. Just need to reload all my crappy songs onto it again!

Did your status every update to replacement sent or anything like that or did it just randomly arrive?

A pertinent question which I was just about to ask....

Mine has said: 19 December 2011: Product replacement pending for some time. It was sent back somewhere around the 16th November.

I believe in the US the status updated to sent and included a serial number which when inputted into Apple's site identified the model of the nano, doesnt seem like this is happening in the UK though.
