Cant really see that happening.not sure i believe this post. Sorry but dont think apple are likely to replace two old ones for 8gb ones. Great if they are but hard to believe0 -

Not the first post in here to say new nanos have been received so no need to accuse someone of lying. Did you really think they were going to waste all the time and effort of reproducing an out of date piece of hardware rather than send out units they have already manufactured?
It makes sense to just sent out what they already have than go through the whole process of manufacturing old units again as well as the cost of ordering the old unit parts etc.0 -
Im not directly accusing anyone of lying, im just not sure i believe them! They are only replacing the batteries. But as i said great news if we are getting brand new ones, but need more proof than a post from a new comer.0

Yes, this is mostly a US site but I doubt they would ship new Nanos to the US if they had enough of the old refurbs/new run of old design they were sending out to begin with to serve the rest of the world? They are only replacing the batteries.
I don't believe they ever just sent back the same Nano to anyone... different serial numbers.0 -
They are only replacing the batteries.
Step 3 Return
15 December 2011: Product replacement pending
'Product Replacement Pending' seems like an odd description for 'replacing the batteries'. To me, that description indicates that they will be sending a replacement which would mean a new or refurbished iPod Nano of some description. Otherwise the description would indicate that they were repairing my Nano, surely.
I also heard a rumour a couple of weeks ago that Apple hadn't anticipated the large amount of returns there would be and have run out of first generation Nanos to send to people, hence the need to revert to the current generation model.0 -

I believe that when Apple send out the replacements they add the serial number to the 'status' update on the site. With that in mind it would be fairly easy for the 2 posters to prove they have new nano's by screen shotting that page, along with the serial number of the nano.Im not directly accusing anyone of lying, im just not sure i believe them! To add, they are not 'only replacing batteries'. You receive a fully refurbished Nano, of which generation that is, is currently debatable.0 -
I got mine today, delivered by ups, I can confirm it is a new style silver 8gb nano. I will try get a picture up.0
