Well, I was going past the shop on my way for a walk ......
Anyway, no absolutely truely to die for bargains (eg no turkeys, chickens for silly money) but did get a few bits & pieces. Some things still to expensive & may well be reduced again later on (they're open to 8) but on the other hand, it will probably have gone by then.
Mainly things like Cornish Pasties (which I love), sausage rolls, chicken & mushroom slices, chicken pies, steak pies (great for the odd lunch when I have no energy but would never buy at full price), some pork chops (they were a good deal - £3 down to 50p), some meatballs (would just normally make from mince as usually cheaper but these were pretty good too).
And .... I do have this new freezer to fill;)
Anyway ...... managed to get £22.70's worth of stuff for £8.09:j up to £124.36/£150 but the stocks are looking pretty good for the New Year.
I really must try the "eating out the freezer" challenge at some point next year as I'm great at stocking up but not so good at using it - some sort of silly fear of running out of stuff (very unlikely).Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

silly question and please feel free to tell me to shut up ... when doing your shopping in asda can you not do the stuff on offer in a different reciept ? put the normal priced stuff through then put the reduced stuff through? would it not give you a better chance at getting ( actually i dont know what it would get you cause i just did this for the first time last night lol)
As I read it,this is what Rising is saying she is going to do.I too have been sissed off with Asda over this. The key word seems to be
OVERALL.so if you have reduced items it brings down the total and they can say they are cheapest when often they are not. So as you say put them through separate, thou do be aware that you need 8 full price items, I try not to pay full price for anything so dont think I willever get an Asda voucher.
Never mind am quite happy to just buy whoopsies from there or any of the big 4 tobe honest.Slimming World at target0 -
woke up with a splitting headache after feeling sorry for myself all morning i finally sent hubby for painkillers, he brought the kids back mcd's and us chippy (which made me feel sick if my head hadn't started to clear(SLOWLY) i'd say i have i migraine it def feels like one) aswell as carrots for rudolf (it's sweet that he listed and remebered we needed some) some milk and bread and ofcourse painkillers he doesn't know how much he spent but at a guess £10 for out lunch £8 for the kids, £1 for bread £1 for mil 89p for carrots, £2.10 for painkillers so i'm gonna add £23 so not great but i was just so glad i didn't have to make foodDEC GC £463.67/£450

It is a bit "low" and IMHO not a true reflection that they really are the cheapest ..... but we're onto it girls (and boys) - we will play them at their own game! I have also fallen foul of the 8 items too!:mad:ms_night_ryder wrote: »had a nosey and waitrose have stuff at half price, so will head out in 30 mins and see what they HAVE, NOTICED LOADS THAT HAVE SEL BY DATE OF 27TH, SO WILL GO THEN AS ITS CLOSED BOXING DAY

You did better than me, I came back empty (and cold) handed!
There was one turkey left and some fish reduced, but not by a lot. Like your store, there were quite a few pasties etc reduced, but I didn't really want them. I could have done with salad bits, but was feeling ultra tight by then as none of it was reduced and came back home!
Mine closes at 6pm, but I won't be going back. I just hope someone buys the lonely turkey.
I constantly try to empty my freezer, but then I see something that I can freeze aaaaand back to square one! I also hate the thought of running out of food. I reckon it has something to do with the fact that i've been made redundant quite a few times, so if it happens again and it all gets desperate, I know I can at least eatGrocery challenge - Nov: £52/£100

Other ideas - a veg bake? you could use breadcrumbs for the topping.
How would I make this?0
