  • Good start to Jan's budget .... was bored:o (which is ridiculous as I've loads to do - just need to get on & do it!:o) so checked my Mr A receipts on the price checker site (I got p'd off with them a while ago & gave up as I often buy stuff on offer which affects the overall cost of the shop - even if other things are cheaper elsewhere) and ....

    £5 off £40 spend + 2 vouchers for £1.87 and £1.62 = £8.48 off a £40 shop ;) not too bad!

I'm going to start doing this again but if I'm getting loads of stuff with big offers/savings - I'm going to play them at their own game and put these through separately!

silly question and please feel free to tell me to shut up ... when doing your shopping in asda can you not do the stuff on offer in a different reciept ? put the normal priced stuff through then put the reduced stuff through? would it not give you a better chance at getting ( actually i dont know what it would get you cause i just did this for the first time last night lol)

Wow! Will have a proper read through when I come back from Christmas!

Other ideas - a veg bake? you could use breadcrumbs for the topping.

Yup, that's what I meant above (sorry if it came out wrong) - I didn't "click" about it before and just couldn't work out why I wasn't getting any vouchers when I know some stuff is cheaper elsewhere - but when I realised I'd saved say £4 x 3 when washing gel was on offer etc and it's the overall cost of the shop they look at & not individual items .... it all became clear!

  • when do peeps do their veg prep for christmas day ? thought id do it on christmas eve should be ok

    take care tess

    Hi Tess

I usually prep all my veg on christmas eve. I just peel potatoes and cover with water ready to be par boiled on christmas day, parsnips can be done the same way. Sprouts can be done the day before and I peel and cut carrots and keep in a freezer bag with a little bit of water in.

Have a great christmas everyone and thanks for all your help over the year. Lets hope we can cut the cost of grocery shopping even more next year
