rising_from_the_ashes wrote: »Well, delighted to say the new fridge/freezer arrived this morning:j:j:j nearly 2 weeks without one living with a carton of milk etc in the garage has been awful!
It's currently nearly at the end of its 4 hour "sit" and will be plugged in very shortly ....
Good job as I've already been to Mr A (stuff is in the boot) - it was heavinghonestly I was at the checkouts for ages - there was a woman in front with a load of clothing and the checkout person spent about 10 mins sorting out the coat-hangers:mad:. Surely when it's that busy they shouldn't be bothering with that sort of thing!
Anyway, I'm back after a fairly hefty spend of £52.94 - not unexpected as I had no fresh stuff at all!
Total standing at £116.17/£150 and should hopefully have enough to last until the end of the month, bar the odd loaf of bread etc - so not quite ready to declare yet!:)
So glad you have your new freezer. I felt you pain in not having one
I would be so lost without one,Slimming World at target0 -

I'd like to start the grocery challenge from the beginning of January if that's okay. I have to cut down my grocery expenditure even further and get my overdraft paid off once and for all! My aim is to be in credit come CHristmas 2012:)
Can u put me down for £100 foR January please . Thank you muchly. No: 171 of the "Pay all your debt off by Christmas 2012" challenge. Paid off so far :£0,000/ £1,500:o
Please excuse typos, 1) I am using an iPad and don't get on with it 2) I am disabled 3) I'll bite you if you get snarky about it.0 -
Hi all,
So glad I finished my shopping earlier this week, it sounds hard work out there now...'twas quiet on Tuesday night :¬)
But my confession is that I've bought far too much veg...had the family here today, did the full works and barely made a dent in the vege mountain. So, two things I need to do - 1 )tomorrow blanch as much as I can & freeze them (if I can scrush any in the overful freezer) and more importantly 2) learn to think carefully about portion sizes, preferably before I spend unnecessary money in the shops.
I feel so full now, that I'm seriously thinking of not cooking on Xmas Day...can you imagine how full I feel?! I might keep my lovely rib of beef for NY Day....I'd hate to cook it and not enjoy it, and I'm out for meals Mon & Tues too...so much food, too much food...
I have so much food in that I hope to be able to last quite well with very little shopping for the next couple of months. To help my MFW 2012 challenge, I'm going to drastically reduce my grocery budget £20 a week from 1st Jan to 31st Jan.
So definitely no spends on food next week and then aiming for £100 ABSOLUTE MAXIMUM in January. This includes all supermarket shopping inc laundry stuff, cat litter, toilet rolls, toiletries etc. I can't decide yet if it will include cat food ...will see how I manage to stretch my £100....:rotfl:
Have a lovely Christmas everyone. I enjoy reading your posts, and getting ideas from you all. Have fun, stay warm and safe
