Morning,
Well today is pay day so I am already in my January budgetThat said I am well organised with lists so my shopping trips means taking the lists & meal plans i've done.
My 1st month (slightly shorter than usual) resulted in me spending £270 (with a lot of food still sat in the freezer & cupboards!!)
Been scrolling through the first posts for new meal ideas instead of the same old same old!! I am finding it hard to meal plan for a month since I don't always fancy what I have on my list but meal planning for a week means more shopping tripswith the risk of over spending

Well I've just been to Mr T's expecting a fight round the aisles and it wasn't too bad - no queue at the till and managed to get everything on my list.
I've already done the non-perishable Xmas food shop and will go again on Friday for the fresh stuff.
This trip was to spend a £50 saving stamp card that my mum had given me towards the Xmas food - but I decided to use it to stock up the freezer and cupboards for after Xmas and into the New Year.
For the first time ever I took a calculator round with me and added it up as I went along - the list came to £51 so not too bad and I spent an extra £6.50 on toiletries on offer and hair dye.
So a total spend (cash) of £7.50 - not bad for a trolley full!
I now have a bursting freezer (loads of quorn and veggie products and frozen veg and potato things), tons of tins and jars and dried things like rice and pasta, enough dog food for a few weeks and a nice tea for tonight!
I only need to make two evening meals before the visitors arrive on Saturday (take away for tea on Sat courtesy of mum) and I have plenty of bits in for them.
Just the battle for the fresh stuff to go now!0 -
well today i found out about the 2 for £2 for lurpak deal ... so went out and bought 6 ( all of them in the freezer) thats a saving of £3.80 ... but a spend of £6 ... better go write that in my total then

Well it was a photo finish but I made it. Lots of food in the cupboards and freezer so apart from the turkey which I will get tomorrow from the Christmas budget I can't see me having to spend much in January except for fresh stuff. Famous last words !!! I will start again on 30th December which is the first week in the year for me at £50 per week. The idea of having a seperate purse sounds good and one that I may adopt. Its that or having a basic and seperate bank account. I haven't decided yet. Will ponder some more.Mortgage and Debt free but need to increase savings pot. :think:0

Well, finished my Christmas shopping today, spent £4 on a sack of potatoes, £2.60 on fresh veg at the shed, £1.68 in Lid* on a cauli and broccoli that shed had run out of and a massive £43.39 in mr T on mountains of milk, various fresh creams, fruit, cheese, bread, eggs, mushrooms, salad cream, foil and toilet rolls, total of £51.67  but, apart from the leeks that I will get free from mum and dad, that should be me done spending for at least a week and longer if milk lasts.
Tea tonight was a quick pork curry using the pork medallions that I got out of the freezer yesterday. Will need to see what I can get to in the freezer before working out what is for tea tomorrow (all the room in the freezer that was made by getting the turkey out, has been taken up with milk and bread).
Now off to update sig then relax and play Harry Potter scene it with DD's 1&2 and DS2

No of course you are not failing, you saved £3.80 and you are not going to use 6 packs in this budget are you. No its a investment.
See what it costs next month.Slimming World at target0
