    Ohhhhh, I love Lurpak too!:o

Is it the blocks or the tubs? (I struggle with the blocks!)

250 g blocks sorry ... it was £3 for the kilo spreadable last week ( usually £5.68 or so)
  • There's been lots of chat over the last couple of pages about having a separate purse for the gc money, so I thought I'd add my twopennyworth...

I used to just save receipts, and add it on here to my total, but then kept forgetting bits/losing receipts/not knowing exactly how much I had left, etc. This month, I took the cash out at the beginning of the month, and put it into a separate purse, and it has worked a treat! I still went over, because it's Christmas (!!!), but I thought much harder about every penny, and I always knew exactly how much I had left, because it was right there in front of me! The other useful thing I did, was that if i was buying extra stuff in the sm, which wasnt gc related, I just paid for it separately, gc money for gc stuff, and card/other purse for the other stuff! It made it so much clearer for me, and I am definitely continuing this system into next year.

It gave nsds a bit more importance too!

I'm all spent out for this year now, and I even have my turkey in the freezer. Any other stuff i need will be brought up by my mum, as I am now officially broke!

    Night all,

  • Hey Guys

No spending on groceries, although i did go to £1 shop and buy levi roots, pomegranate and blood orange juice, velvet, they are my fave, sunbites and some tissues, tis came out of my general budget, got paid today and have decided that i will start monthly challenge from now until end of jan, my target is £50 for the 5 weeks, i have a gc purse, so im breaking it down even further to be £10 a week, see how i fare with that, freezer is chocked full of meat etc, so it will only be essentials or whoopsies, i have washing up liquid, toilet tissue, softner and washing powder to last me a good few months yet, although if there is a glitch will bulk buy lol, excited to see how i get on.

Decided i dont need that extra freezer, as somebody mentioned it, i am seeing sense lol. is like having your money in the freezer and i eat really well and rotate what is in the freezer, so pointless getting another one.

I was thinking of getting a dessert for crimbo to bring to my grams, but realised i have a strawberry tart in freezer, tf, that is large iit would be silly and very greedy for me to defrost it and eat it by myself, so as well as making space in freezer, it will be welcomed and eaten at my grams by my family, crimbo and boxing day and the bonus is i don't have to go out and buy anything additional.

Got my promo work in 3 tescos tomorrow, so will have to reign in the whoopsies, plus i only have £10 for the week and i want to get some bargains on christmas eve, so need to be sensible, plus i don't really need anything.

I've taken the rest of my grocery money out of my bank account in cash and have £161.33 to last me until I get paid on the 19th of January.

    Evening all
Oh pants I've fallen off the wagon this year. I started a new job in February and as I've been working I haven't had as much time to shop around as usual so bought all my groceries from Mr T and Mr S, also DH has been off work for 2 months and so instead of bargain hunting I've been distracted by him.
Anyhoo, I really MUST get back to it so please can I join the grocery challenge for January 2012, and put myself down for an initial £360 per month, we could be in real financial dire straits in the New Year, so this might be cut further.
    Thanks a million.

Quick update on my total so far £3767.45/£4300 with just one more week to go. Done really well this year but definitely made more use of coupons and glitches. Only need a few more fresh items for Christmas and will pick them up over the next few nights to make the most of the reduced items, got a pile (dont know the collective noun perhaps flutter ) of pousins RTC for 45p each. Used to spatchcock these and tell the kids we were having roast frog when they were little.

The first of what is (hopefully) a run of NSD's for me.

Tea today is just a simple corned beef, cheese and potato pie (just mash with corned beef and grated cheese mixed in).
There is plenty of fruit for everyone to pick at during the day.

Still finishing last minute wrapping and then the rest of today and tomorrow will be spent tidying up.

So was at Lidl this morning for the last bits and pieces, pigs in blankets, milk, butter etc. Spent £77.81 but that includes a couple of crates of beer, cashback and some reduced beef and sausages for casseroles next week. So £279.05/£500 for the month so far with 1 week left. So even spending the full £100pw budget next week I'll still have saved more than £100 this month :j

Hopefully just get milk, bread and fresh fruit and veg next week tho as the freezer is full to bursting and thats not counting the leftovers.

Right, no more spending til after sunday at least so Merry Christmas everyone xx
