My first spend of January 3.43, saw treats for the boy (cat) and had to get. He's 18 so gets spoilt somewhat.:p

Good morning all,
Yesterday I mentioned about gift vouchers meaning Xmas ones. If they are a present and used for groceries should they be excluded from my set December budget? I do not know whether I would be "cheating" upon myself so maybe not? Any thoughts?
Today should be a NSD so will continue to work upon using up what I have already.0 -
Got another £4.90 to add£71.93/ £180.000

Well wentti Iceland to use my found stamps, got loo rolls, eggs,a cheesecake and chocolate fudge cake. Had to put 50p to it. Was very tempted to have a good look round but fortunately the place was really packed and that put me off.
I really think being on this challenge for the last few months has changed my mindset regarding food
shopping as I dont impulse buy like I used too. In fact as I have halved my budget I am now wondering what the heck I did with it before.Though if I stand sideways and look in the mirror I can see the result,
I am going to do Christmas eve shopping for whoopsies and thats it for this year.
Going to have a stock take of everything I have in and make Jan and Feb serious use up months, stillhave far too much pasta, rice etc, and did discover a forgotten hoard of jars and tinned stuff.
Would you beleive 15 jars of mincemeat? two years out of date.Seems ok though.Slimming World at target0 -

It is up to you whether you decide to include voucher spends or not, it is your challenge and you get to set the rules;)
Some people include them, whether they are moc or gift vouchers, others do not.
I personally do not include them, my view is that they are not cash, the money did not have to come out of my bank and therefore do not get counted

.
I don't include xmas gift vouchers given to me for food use either...i class them as a bonus for the month0 -
Thanks sproggi for your comments about my "dilemma". Obviously, I had not looked ahead regarding the potential for this happening. However, I had initially considered this month as a basis to keep further improving on future expenditure. Anyhow, I know that using them will always be with the sender in mind which is important to me. Whatever I decide I'll mention at some point.
Just spotted your message kippers. Thanks.0 -
I'm holding off doing the Christmas shop till Thurs. Hoping to do it for about £100 but we'll see.
We have kindly been given all the chocolate treats, cheese etc by family, but now I'm struggling not to eat it before the big dayRepeat after me: you do not need to eat stilton for breakfast!
