I always buy BOGOF's as part of my meal plans, dumping something else off my shopping list to make room. Since I saw the link to fixtureferrets on this site I actively look up and hunt down BOGOF's but ONLY if they are cheaper in real terms.
    Regards

Sorry but I just have to brag. Thanks to heavy reductions I got four packs of Taste the Difference pitta breads for 2p total! I would certainly not have bought them full price, normally I get a cheap brand from a local Asian shop. I got four poussins for £1.04 - again, not something I would normally buy but now I've got lots of meat for a fraction of the price of a fresh chicken.

    Reasons for buying BOGOF:
If the price makes the items cheaper than my usual brand
If the price is so darn cheap the shop is paying me to take the stuff away (see pitta bread example)
It means I can buy two luxury items for the price of one standard item
    Planning ahead for Xmas shopping

Always think can I freeze it, is it long life, can we eat all this in one sitting, depending on what sort of thing is on offer

I use similar reasoning if I'm deciding to buy something that is reduced.

Also I do to some extent plan the shopping around BOGOFs. I know that Iceland regularly sell BOGOF basmati rice, so I keep checking and stock up when they have the offer on. Same goes for washing up liquid, there always seems to be at least one BOGOF so I stock up, I can't remember the last time I bought just one bottle.

I once realised that it was much cheaper to buy two bags of BOGOF reduced salad, even though I only wanted one. It seems ridiculous that it was cheaper to buy two bags and throw one away *shrug*

I buy all my toothbrushes and toothpaste on BOGOF and keep them in the cupboard especially if it's the type recommended by my dentist.

BOGOF's are my worst downfall and particularly if I have my daughter with me. I do try to buy only what I would use and put the free one in the freezer, then I forget its there or worse still I forget to put it in the freezer and we are eating sausages all week :o

I have managed to stop myself buying new things that are on BOGOF as invaribly my daughter will decide after the first one that she doesn't like it

if you're having problems remembering what's in your freezer (or even your cupboards) you can go to organized home website http://organizedhome.com/

    this page
    http://organizedhome.com/printable.html

has all sorts of printable forms (use the back of junk mail!) i have a list on my fridge/freezer for what's in my freezer and a shopping list from this site's printables. i also use the pantry list which i tape to the inside of my cupboard doors. i dont' always remember to update as often as i should but it gives me a much better idea of what's going on, and it reminds me that i almost always have MORE food than i think i do on hand.

I buy a lot of BOGOF items but only because I want the item.

Does anybody here actually waste any BOGOFs? Surely most of us would only buy large quantities of non-perishables and the maximum number of perishables we are likely to get through before they...er...perish?

I tend to trawl through the BOGOF sections of Fixtureferrets and Madaboutbargains once a week to identify products I regularly buy or know I would use. I also make use of the e-mail alerting service Fixtureferrets provides. I am lucky enough to have Tesco, Waitrose, Mossisons, Co-op, Kwik Save and Iceland within walking distance of either home or work and Sainsbury, Somerfield & Asda a three mile drive away (close enough not to negate the savings on BOGOF items with the petrol used to get there).

BOGOFs are great, but I tend to stick to stuff that is either in a can or will freeze well. Like other's I am only tempted by products that I would buy anyway. Whenever I go shopping I get my meat BOGOF radar out. It doesn't matter if it'll take us a month or two to eat it...as long as it freezes okay.

I have stopped shopping around, i have stopped using codes for offers on other sites other than Tesco. I dont even look now. I have spent so much in the past buying multiples when they were BOGOF or buying goods online using a code. I have about 10 large bottles of Head and Shoulders that we used, but suddenly makes us all itch, in a drawer upstairs. I have about 6 boxes of Wheatos that was on special in Tesco and the kids have gone off Wheatos now. If i buy in bulk, we always use it twice as fast. I am keeping the pennies in my purse from now on.

I have (and sounds like may people here) no brand loyalty (except on my salad cream..)

So I will buy any Bogof that I see fit for that week - but will always get the basics, loo roll, toothpaste.

But - you still have to add them all up carefully - just because you have a Bogof on one brand, doesn't make it chepaer than buying two of another!!!!!
