if these companies say they have no jobs but can take people on 'placements' this is what they are doing.richardc1983 wrote: »So why are they not taking these jobs in the first place... some of these people have no intention of working and will refuse every job because they think they are above that.
WEll I am sorry if you are claiming JSA and have bills to pay then you need to take whatever job you can get to get you back on your feet at which point you can look for something more suitable thats how I was brought up.
There are jobs available out there. Not ideal jobs for everybody but jobs all the same. People moan about the polish taking our jobs well its because the British are too lazy to work!0 -
yeah I watch tv all dayrichardc1983 wrote: »Id rather it go into the pockets of companies than have people sat at home all day watching tv while I go out to work.0 -

If they created 50 jobs there will still be 50 people on benefits who have no intention of applying for them... there will be people who do apply for the job and want to work but this is how it is gone since so many people are on benefits large majority of htem dont want to work because its easier to stay at home.
So I would have thought the 50 people who are working for their benefits are people who have been on JSA for a long time (no intention of working) at least thats how it should be targeted.
They shouldnt be working for nothing though while they are there but some of these people would probably not normally get a job so its probably an agreement to get them into a work environment to give them that experience. If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -
The link provided tells you it is Poundland...0

Because the life of a person on benefits is just sitting down watching tv all day, they never leave the couch or do anything worthwhile.
The type of person who talks like you do is normally someone doing simple work but think that gives them a right to complain about people that are in a different situation than them.
Many do yes as its too easy to live on benefits for some.
I am the type of person who works hard... i try to get overtime in whenever I can so I can afford to go on holidays or buy nice things for my self.
The type of work I do is irrelevant because if I wasnt in this job I would be doing some other job (whether it be cleaning or call centre work) to make an honest living and have some pride in myself. Its how I was brought up.If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -
For many, getting JSA + other benefits (e.g. LHA, council tax) is more than they'd have gone from being employed to do those jobs at minimum wage.... and it saves a lot of processing time for the Govt if they came off benefits and went back on them again.0

So should they get minimum wage, plus their other benefits? or have their other benefits stopped and paid minimum wage for the duration?
If they get the rest of their benefits and rent etc paid, and still have £65.70 in their pocket at the end of the week then they're not doing too badly are they
it's £53.45 for under 25's and even if they are in a benefit you probably still have utility bills and council tax, I have to pay council tax even though I sign on though it comes to about £28 a month instead of over £100 and when I was in a bedsit had to pay own electricity etc.0 -

Isnt it a work scheme? I have done voluntary work before when leaving school to get recognised and show that I am a hard worker. It looks good on your cv that you have done it then. However I do agree if they are doing this sort of work should be paid the going rate as an incentive this may then give them a boost to continue after the period ends.If you found my post helpful, please remember to press the THANKS button! --->0 -
That's all very well but if it is a workscheme shouldn't it be in charity shops etc not making profits for Poundland?0
