Just because someones been unemployed doesn't mean they have to have an empty CV and I certainly wouldn't a put down workfare placement!

Of course it doesn't - and I certainly didn't mean to imply such a thing - so apologies if my comment was misconstrued.

What I should have said is that surely, a CV showing no employment history of long-standing since leaving education, no voluntary work or anything of such ilk would surely be improved by a workforce placement entry.

Strange, isn't it, that all those like poster above, who purports to want a job, can always criticise and take the "moral high ground" on large employers .........
I certainly do when they take advantage and pay absolutely nothing like this thread is about.

  • Id rather it go into the pockets of companies than have people sat at home all day watching tv while I go out to work.

Because thats the only alternative. Instead of forcing people to work for free to get JSA how about give the job to somebody that wants to work so they stop claiming JSA.

My guess, cally me a cynic, the company is probably paying more than the JSA and less than a wage to get some legal, sub-minimum wage work.

Stinks. People who want the jobs dont get them, people are forced to work for free, and some company that is too tight to pay a proper living wage is endorsed by a Government agency.

Nobody wins because while they are working they cant look for paying jobs so the taxpayer pays twice.

Its the most ludicrously stupid idea possible.

This is true, although in my experience if you are married or living with a partner (considered same thing for benefits purposes) and one is unemployed and the other has a minimum wage job at around 37 hours or more, then you have no chance of getting either CTB/HB. I think that's why most people would include them in comparisons.
