I won't be able to start properly for a little while as our finances are currently in a state of flux:p but I will start as soon as I possibly can, and in the meantime will try and be very careful to think in a mse way at all times:D

No worries L-M, just keep posting on here anyway to let us know what MSE things you doing! If you need any advice or tips then please just ask as I'm sure that one of us will be able to help. I know money is very tight at the moment so if only update with £1 for December then that's £1 less on your debt and closer to being debt free. It's definitely all about the baby steps xxx

  • Only seem to get the opportunity to actually post about once a week. (I do sneak a read during my breaks though).

Well as I started my cunning plans, the car died completely, so an unbudget for expense (repairs yes but whole car:o) I am not sure of the impact on my debt repayment for december as dh has been working extra days to pay for another car, which we now have. So the extra hours will help balance it out. It is very shiny, but quite old and has new tyres, exhaust and other good things, so hopefully problem solved, spent a couple of hundred more than we intended but, hopefully this will pay off in the long run:cool:

Well I have all my paid work up to date so will send out the invoices this week.

Old car to the scrapyard tomorrow and car tax to be sent of for a refund. (all will go back into the coffers)

Went food shopping at Sainsbugs yester day. Had to smile at the people who took a sly look in my trolley at all the Basics (value) packs and had that smug look on their faces (I did look quite smart though and not like a bag lady; which has sometimes been true in the past:rotfl:) But I don't care I now have most things which will last me till the end of January, a small weekly budget should see to the rest.

My only problem at the moment is clothes. I have just been through my wardrobe whilst putting the laundry away. I have plenty to ebay which is a good thing, but I may need to invest in some new work clothes. I need 2 pair of shoes and another couple of pairs of trousers, which I will scour the charity shops for or take a look around the sales in January, but this will have a very small budget I am aiming for under £25, and I don't buy tat:D

I have finished my coffee and my ramblings, so I am off for a waddle with the dogs. I have my trustee camera out with batteries at the ready for some ebay photography so some time earmarked for this

Well done everyone:T, reading through you all seem really proactive. I am hoping to be back a little more frequently this week I may be able to do a reccy of the damage the car purchase has done.
My finances are work in progress.
    Normal veiwing will resume shortly
  • Good afternoon all. Just watching my lovely ebay finishing and thought Id check in before cooking Sunday Dinner.
I have just been to the market and got some fruit and veg (loads cheaper than the supermarket etc) and this weekends Money Saving behaviour appears to be getting my husband to pay for things :) SO far he has forked out for pizza, wine and diesel- things that I would normally pay for so every little helps lol. I have just bought a notebook (£1) to write down my finances as I keep writing various lists and plans all over the place, so I thought I could put my monthly plan in there (what goes out when, what comes in when - my finances are very erratic- benefits once a week and once a fortnight, self employed money once a week VERY variable, Housekeeping once a month) and also I am obsessed with checking my bank accounts (3 current with one bank, another current with another bank, 2 savings with one, 1 with another, 1 empty ISA) so I could write whats in there every day, and hopefully pay off a payment a day as per other thread. I am also going to write down ALL my spends, and Im hoping that will work a bit like a food diary- eg: I wont spend £30 in primark as Ill be too ashamed to write it down.
I have got nearly all my Christmas pressies- just need to get a voucher for BIL, pressie for mum and stepdad and stocking stuff for kids. ALso obviously food etc but MIL normally INSISTS on paying for that, and well, she'd be offended if I refused to let her help ;)
We are all still sounding very enthusiastic still which is brill, and I love sharing our tips and progress. Viva this thread!

Oh no Loubie! I feel your pain... Will you get any money for Xmas that may be able to go against your debt? I'm sacrificing my usual christmas gluttony of pressies so I can reach my target of getting rid of my debt by asking people to give me money (in coins as I will spend notes far more easily and the coins can just go straight in my SPC tub) instead of xmas pressies. I'm 30 and earn a decent salary so for me, I don't NEED anything but I do NEED to pay off this debt... Next year though may be a very different story... and I'll buy myself oodles of pressies out of my own money!!!!! :j:j:j

    My plan of action is............

I am with payplan so I can only make their specific monthly payment.

I have a credit card and payday loan which I am going to finish hopefully by march. Any other money I acquire is going into a separate savings account to make 'larger payments to payplan every now and again. So at first my debt won't be going down as much, so every couple of thousand i save out of my wages I will make an extra payment to payplan. Hope that makes sense.

I have asked people for money for xmas but this will just go into the savings as mentioned above. Same with the quidco money, surveys etc etc.
