Hi!! love this thread!! just a wee bit of advice here.. if anyone is humming and heying about claiming back any missold ppi in the past then my advice is go for it!!!! I have been in quite a bit of debt over the last 10 years since takin out my first loan and have struggled quite a bit since to be honest, 12 weeks ago i made 1 simple phone call to lloyds tsb to ask to claim back my ppi, on Friday i received a letter offering me a massive £6311.23 back!!!! i could not believe it! I myself hummed and hayed for months wether to or not but I'm soooo glad I did!!! With this money I am now debt free!!! and I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders!! so please if you think you may be entitled PLEASE phone your lender and find out!! Hope this helps someone!! and good luck to all on their challenge ahead!!! :)

Thanks *iamtheoneandonly*, BTW love your username, remember belting that out when Chezza did a gig at our uni. Everyone chanted "One and Only" until he finally relented and sang it. Then everyone b*ggered off, poor guy...

I had been thinking about trying to reclaim until I realised that I took a 3 month payment break at the start of my graduate loan and in that time realised that they'd stuck on PPI so I argued and they canceled the loan and re did it without the PPI so I may have only made 1 payment...? The only thing is though that they said that they would have to completely cancel the loan (without the interest penalty) and re do another without the PPI. My loan was originally £18k but when they did the new loan it was for £18,350 so still not sure how that happened but they wouldn't or couldn't explain it to me!

Anyway, many thanks for the advice and congrats on getting all that money back, how amazing you must have felt paying all your debt off!!! :T:T:T xxx

    My plan of action is............

I am with payplan so I can only make their specific monthly payment.

I have a credit card and payday loan which I am going to finish hopefully by march. Any other money I acquire is going into a separate savings account to make 'larger payments to payplan every now and again. So at first my debt won't be going down as much, so every couple of thousand i save out of my wages I will make an extra payment to payplan. Hope that makes sense.

I have asked people for money for xmas but this will just go into the savings as mentioned above. Same with the quidco money, surveys etc etc.

    :xmassmile

    Fab plan Loubie! :T:T:T

Just popping on to say my money saving method last night was to get boys to buy the drinks, other than the 2 bottles of wine, amaretto, and creme de cassis that I bought from Waitrose.... but it was actually a lot cheaper than buying the rounds *snigger*

    Hellooooooooooooooo

well took the family christmas shooping today . . . it did not go well  Took DD (3) into BHS to get her brother a present, she bought him a big chocolate coin and a small tube of jelly beans which were buy 1 get one half price . . so she spent £3.50 of her £5 budget :rotfl: im so proud!! :rotfl:

Sent Dh off with DS to buy a xbox game which is for DS for christmas but we told him it was for his bampy as a pretext to see what he would pick . . £10 budget . . but because the game he chose was £2.99 . . well they felt they needed to spend the other £7 on another pre-owned game as that was the budget  and then I find out its two blinking war games that I have always said DS cant have as they are too realistic for a 10 year old

So then off to boots to try and teach DS about maximising his money, he has £15 to buy me, DH and DD a present each, we wander round boots looking at 3 for 2's, find something good for daddy, but the childrens section is pants and unless I want to be smothered in make-up (i dont wear or own any!!!) or cook with a variety of spices there was nowt for him to get me either. Soooooooooooooo we left empty handed :rotfl:

Totally forgot to get MIL's gift, put back nieces gift as I was fed up with boots and their cac range and didnt even see a toy shop to look for other neice or nephew, so in total we spent £10 on DS and DD spent £3.50 in our christmas shopping day

I just paid £20 off my Vanquis!! Will do total when Ive stopped turning cartwheels and congratulating self on paying a bill instead of thinking "oh look, £20- lets buy some tatt"

    Here we go :
    37.82/ 2321.54

Ooh my days Im so chuffed. Sorry am far too dense to do percent (failed maths 3 times)
Have nothing in your house that you do not know to be useful or believe to be beautiful.

    £117/ £3951.67
  • Idris that's 1.63% :D (not worked out in my head can I just mention!!)

I used to be so bad for doing that - if I had a spare fiver I would find something I didn't need or even want very much for that amount and buy it anyway *sigh* ah well, you learn by your mistakes don't you?!

This afternoon I'm not going out as I feel dizzy so we're having a home cooked Sunday dinner, mince pies & putting the tree up. I've written a list for food shopping for NEXT week so will compare the supermarkets online again and see who to order from this week :D

  • Started on Mother and Father in laws home made hampers so need to just look at how much I'm up to, I suspect it could end up very expensive if you (I) got carried away.

I pay my bills monthly but that means it will be fifteen days until I can pay something and I'm just not sure I can wait that long! I think I'll have a look if there's any pennies to spare - doubtful to be honest but you never know :rotfl:

I worked out my daily repay figure and then wished I hadn't it was nearly £54 per day

Well done Idris you must feel really proud of yourself.

Ruby I hope you're feeling better soon and that somebody else cooked the Sunday lunch whilst you were resting.

Jakes mumhow frustrating but at least you didn't buy presents you weren't happy with ..... except the games of course, I understand exactly where you are coming from!

Well, I'm going to stop procrastinating and sit down and work out my budget with the huge amount of money I have spent this last week - I know I'd already saved it up but I'm so upset at seeing my savings go lol
  • Much excitement as my first batch of items ended last night and I have made about £49 with a few left to end tonight. That will all go straight on the CC, unless I find any genuine bargains on ebay for xmas presents - I've only bought 1 present so far, so need to pull my finger out.

Been away this weekend- got the train instead of driving £80 return, paid for before LBM so techincally ok, and would have cost similar in petrol anyway. It was a family ruby wedding party with 3 course dinner and a free bar - so all good there! Only spends were a taxi back from the station (good intentions to walk, but armed with a suitcase and a 45 minute walk ahead of me, £5 on a taxi seemed justified), a packet of crisps and a bottle of diet coke at Chester.

I think ebay could become a bit addictive - I'm now looking at everything I own in a new light! Will fill another box tonight and list some more items. Not looking forward to wrapping and sending 10 items I did sell, as I now have to find time to get to the Post Office before I get rubbish feedback for being slow :p

Hope everyone has had a good weekend. I will make payments and work out my percentages and everything tomorrow.
