Maybe now you have him home..you'll be able to sleep a bit better. I hope so anyway. When you're grieving, and tired, everything magnifies a 100 times.
Hope you also get your heating sorted. I remember mine being out for a day or two, and it was a fuse in an electrical socket that sparked the pilot light that had blown..felt such a twonk when the engineer came out and pushed the fuse back in.
So...what WAS actually beeping?Ruaridh Armstrong-missing since 05/11/11. Come home old boy-we miss you x

I don't think you're over-reacting, I'd be fizzing if it was me and my pooch. I'd be torn between wanting to complain loudly and get it sorted, and just shutting up for the sake of peace and moving on. I would still want the carved casket but I wouldn't want to move his ashes. So in reality I'd probably do nothing but be very annoyed for ages.

As the others said though, you've got Ben back and that's more important that what shape the casket is. Think it was a good suggestion to put a dog on top though.
Fingers crossed the heating is something and nothing. xHerman - MP for all!

So hoping for a good nights sleep soon & you are sooooo right about things getting all out of proportion when you're exhausted.I'd be torn between wanting to complain loudly and get it sorted, and just shutting up for the sake of peace and moving on. On a more positive note .... I have fixed the central heating.:)
When I was trying to find the beeping this morning I had batteries out of everything including the central heating timer - when they were out I realised I've never replaced them (been here 5 years) so put new ones in ..... turns out that it didn't like the new ones so the timer's been off and apparently the heating won't come on without the batteries in (even if I just turn the temp up). Anyway, old ones now back in (looks like I'll have to get some Dura*cell ones:eek: as it obviously doesn't like the cheap ones I use around the house) and all working fine.
As for the beeping .... well ..... *cough*, *cough*, I had to get new phones for the house yesterday as the old one packed in on Sat..... anyway, *mumbles*
I'd put them in a bag to throw in the bin and had totally forgotten about them - if the power goes off / they're unplugged / need charged ...... they beep:o Grocery Challenge £211/£455 (01/01-31/03)

Rising - you are not over reacting at all. It's very hard to collect your pet's ashes let alone receive them in a different casket than the one requested so it's only natural you are upset.
The important thing is you have Ben back home where he belongs. Maybe give it a few days when your emotions aren't running so high and contact the vet to explain what has happend. I'm sure they will be very sympathetic and might even offer you the original casket as a gesture of goodwill which you could use to put next to/on top of Bens ashes.
I imagine you will have paid extra for the chosen casket than the one you have received - I have never seen one like it. When I took my King Charles to the pet crem (as she died at home) 3 month ago there was a large glass cabinet with all the different caskets at different prices. It was a very upsetting time so I could not really have a proper look and the plan was to bury her ashes so I chose a plain and simple scatter box which can also be buried. When the time came to collect her ashes, I could not part with them so I have kept them in my bedroom. I have just had a look at the Pet Crem website and the exact same casket which you chose for Ben is on there so it must have been in the cabinet when I went to the Crematorium.
I hope you feel a bit at ease now Ben is finally home and have a good nights sleep. You seemed to have waited a long time for his ashes. I took my dog to the Crem on the Sunday and her ashes were ready for collection by the Wednesday. Maybe it takes a bit longer when you go through the vet?A home without a dog is like a flower without petals.0 -
Rising, I'm sorry they got it wrong and I know how upsetting that must be but at least he is home with you where he should be. My boy is in a casket like yours and I've got a brass plaque with his name on it (I wasn't given a choice:(). He loved the sun so he is on my window ledge in the bedroom as it gets the sun in the morning, with a picture either side and I talk to him when I get up!
It will get easier in time (I lost Albie a year ago) but I still have the odd wobbly moment. x0 -

Aw, that's what happened with my gorgeous Teddy-cat who I lost just four weeks ago. He's on the windowsill where he used to love to sit and spy on the neighbours.
Rising...a similar thing happened when my much adored Henry-cat died - his ashes came back to me in a box with my other cat's name on it...the vet had made a mistake and assumed it was my older cat who had died. As you can imagine I was upset for lots of reasons but they - the crematorium and the vet - did put it right in the end.
Personally I think it'd be worth phoning the vet's and explaining that an error has been made and that you'd like your boy's ashes transferred to the wooden statue that you had chosen in the first place. Tell them you are upset and that you'd like to just go in with the box and for it to be sorted without having to go over everything in reception. You are entitled to have your choice in this matter. You had planned to have the statue where you can see it, to have that visual connection with Ben every day, and it's important that this is what is put in place for you for your own peace of mind. I know it'll be painful for you getting it done but in the longer term I think you'll be glad.0
