I can't believe I'm writing this.... Just lost my boy  I can't believe he's gone.

I was worried about the winter .... went to work this morning and he was fine - came home at lunchtime and he couldn't put any weight on his back leg but then could walk OK for a bit.

Went to the vet who gave him a really strong painkilling injection and he was to go for x-rays tomorrow morning - prognosis was bleak as she thought he'd ruptured a disc.

Came home and he staggered to the garden and just lay and whined with pain ... couldn't let him suffer. Vet's been and gone ...

Just can't believe he's gone - he was fine this morning. I feel so alone without him here  and hate that he was in pain at the end (and may have been all morning).

Goodbye Ben, mum will always love you and think about you every day - you really were the best boy ever. I was so lucky to have you, I just wish it could've been for much, much longer.

What am I going to do without that big tum to rub in the evenings.... or without your big soppy eyes looking at me with your gorgeous chin on my knee ..... or with the last bit of crumpet every morning.... who's going to finish the cats dinner & lick the plates clean?

Run free and play really hard at the bridge darling boy. Enjoy the sunshine and the peace - keep a wee place in your heart for me & remember to wait for me. Mum misses you sweetheart, you were my "one" xxxx

Aw no, that's awful, I am so sorry, I truly am. I have cried your tears recently too and understand how it feels like your heart is crumbling. You have to mourn Ben's sudden passing but you will never forget him and he'll always be in your heart. RIP Ben.

I am so, so sorry to hear this. My heart goes out to you, as I had to have make that awful gut-wrenching decision too.

I am sure my beautiful Bess will look after him at the bridge.

(((Hugs))) to you Rising from the ashes. Excuse any bad spelling, my screen's all blurry.
