I am so sorry to hear about your boy. Having lost both my best friends recently in the space of 12 weeks I can feel your pain. It makes it so much harder when they are fine one moment then gone the next and when you have to make the difficult decision but nothing could have prepared you for this day. You done the last kindest thing for Ben.

Saying 'Goodbye' to my bestest friends was the hardest thing I have ever had to do.

    RIP Ben. x

Oh rising, I'm so so sorry!

I know words won't help much just now, but you WILL see him again. He's running free at the bridge, just waiting for you.

If I could come and give you a huge cuddle I would, but please, please believe I am thinking of you

  • Thanks to each and everyone of you ..... I'm kind of lost atm and just don't know what to do with myself.

It's been a nightmare day - it started out bad enough in that my dad is having surgery (still waiting for news) but had no idea it would end this way.

I'm struggling with how quick it was (although I am deeply grateful he didn't suffer for long) as he was absolutely fine this morning. I'm also really struggling with the fact his last few hours were painful ones.

Who would've thought our wee trip to the park at 6 am would be our last .... or last night cuddled on the sofa .... (I could go on and on).

I can honestly say the last 6 years I've had him have been wonderful - he brought so much to my life and everyone in the street knew him and stopped to give him a pat (DM took him for a walk last week and couldn't believe it when she heard a wee girl say to her mum .... "mum, mum, that's Ben").

Please everyone, give your beloved ones an extra big cuddle tonight xx

I'm in tears reading your posts. I can feel your pain. I am still crying daily over my two that I lost 3 and 6 month ago. I don't think it gets easier - you just learn to live with the pain.

They both, like Ben were fine one moment then suddenly poorly and gone within one day. It is very hard when it is so sudden but as I said nothing could have prepared us for the day we had to say goodbye to our best friend.

One of mine had to be PTS and the other died naturally. I think it makes it that more harder when you have to make the difficult decision of letting go, it's the guilt too even though we know in our heart it was for the best and the last kindest thing we could do. Just think you gave Ben the love he deserved and he had a good life.

How old was Ben, was he a rescue?
