How long were you in labour?

Comments

  • Baby number 1 - from very first pain until actual delivery 13 hours.

Baby number 2 - from very first pain to actual delivery 4 hours.

Baby number 3 - from very first pain until actual delivery 3 hours.

All labours are different. Just try to be postive about it and if you feel that you are nervous about it discuss the different types of pain relief with the midwife.

    Good luck
The loopy one has gone :j

Aw I am quietly chuffed to see this thread, as exactly a year ago I was in labour :D

I started at 7pm on the friday, and had emergency c/s at 4 am on the Tuesday....... so yes, 81 hours. First 20 or so were ok, and last 20 or so had a ton of drugs.....:D

Aw, to think I only had 6 hours left to go this time last year *disappears down memory lane*

I was quite fortunate that both my labours were fairly quick:

    no.1: 1 hr 20 mins, natural - 2 weeks early
    no.2: roughly 2 hrs 20 mins, natural - 3 weeks early
2017 - no clutter to be seen challenge: 72/2017
Weight loss the old style way challenge - 7/14lbs :j

36 hours from start to finish. But the middle of that everything stopped and I was sent home. When it started up again it was 12 hours :)
  • I had my two very quickly 4 and 2 hrs and those are conservative estimates. My MW and consultants estimated sooner, as i nearly had no.2 in the car.

But i did have SPD with both of them and with no.2 very badly on crutches and relying on DH if i got stuck at the kitchen sink............funny i know!

But seriously even though i had two very quick fast births and had SPD with both of them and acupuncture when push came to shove, the spd didn't really make a difference or maybe the pain merged into one. I don't know, but as it was so fast i couldn't say.

What i will say is yes it hurts, yes you will be reassured and helped to stay calm and eventually you will get through it. The best thing i can say is go with the advice of the MW, mine on no.2 said the gas and air was slowing things down (surprising since she was 2 hrs), but they know what they are doing, so i threw it aside having been using it for 10 mins and she came very soon after.

Just go with the flow, your body will do what it's supposed to and the experts will advise and support you in every aspect. You could worry about this and that, but you don't actually know what sort of birth you 'll end up with, so you can only have a ideal not a definite plan

    I wish you luck.

All labours are completely different and it is impossible to predict how they will go. I was petrified before I had my first. So scared that I was surprised when I had a baby because I had been so focussed on my fear of birth!!

Number 1 10 days overdue, 6 hrs labour, 1 push DS 6lb 5oz Cord round neck x3 and blueish! Good job only one push!
Number 2 13 days overdue 2 hrs labours DD1 8lb 4oz She was back to back.
    Number 3 On due date! 1hr 30 mins labour DD2 8lb 9oz
Number 4 Induced at (what was thought to be) 37 weeks (Christmas day!!) due to possible membrane rupture. 22 hours of the worst labour I could ever have imagined. The pain from contractions encouraged by oxitocin (?-the drip they give you) was the worst I have ever know and completely unnatural. Followed by haemmorage after, and realisation baby was 34-35 weeks not term and needed scubu for 2 weeks as couldn't feed/breathe etc. DD3 5lb 3oz.
Number 5 9 days early! Yay. 4 hrs labour contractions very far apart even at delivery stage. Weird but very calm! DD4 7lb 12oz
    Number 6 On due date! 3 hrs labour DD5 7lb 2 oz.

I had early babies, late babies, big babies, small babies! They are all completely different, the most important thing is that it will be ok, it will end and you will have your baby. Ask a midwife to ensure the size of your baby is monintored if you are worried near the end of your pregnancy. x
:starmod: I am not that savage :heartpuls But I am a Vixen :staradmin
  • 11 1/2 hours officially with an induction (but contractions for longer than that, but 11 1/2 hours from 4cms) then had a c section. I would have had to have got to 14cms to have had her ''normally'' which can't happen! x
    1,2 & 5p: Christmas day food £9.31
    10 & 20p: misc savings £2.70
    50p: Christmas presents £3.50
    £2: holidays £2.00
  • dd1 5 days late- 10 hours (induced)
    ds1 4 days late- 5 hours (spontanious)
    dd2 6 days late- 1 hr 30 min (spontanious)
    dd3 12 days late!- 1 hour (induced)

Good luck. It's not all bad, as you can see many of us have gone back for more :rotfl:
It's hell at the time but forgotten as soon as that bundle is placed on your chest :A
    Busy mummy of 4.:j
