  • DD 2000 11am-7pm bit gas and air but stung a little but as I was panicking so much I have forgotten most of that

DD 2007 6pm-midnight had epidural not sure why but MWs thought she was big and I had SPD pelvis so bad thought be easier, she was 3 weeks early and 10lb so glad I had Epidural lol

DS 2010 READY FOR THIS? 3.41pm-3.50pm 9 MINUTES....I was in hospital anyway as thought waters gone I was 6 weeks early so worried, doctor examined me and said was 3-4cms so broke waters and I mean this baby just fell out lol No crowning NO PAIN AT ALL....was a nice but horrid after pain wise,DS weighed 8lb so glad was early lol

All labours are different but to be honest I never found the contractions that painful just a bit period crampy...I found if you breathe and relax shoulders it helps..

    Good luck xx

Chloe 13 years old and Amelia-Rose born 4/4/07

Gorgeous Harry born 18/04/10 5 weeks early after a nine minute labour!
MFW currently paying £200 extra a month.
  • Both born 1 day after due date:

    DD1 - 4 hours (induced)
    DD2 - 2 hours

Don't know if labour length is down to genetics but midwife stopped trying to send DD2 home from hospital after I told her my labours were relatively short. She then examined her, told her she wasn't going anywhere and DGS was born 2 hours later.

Hospital notes say 9 hrs as they measured it from 'active labour' - working back that's the time l needed pain relief - 6 cm dilated. I measured it from when my waters broke and l had twinges then to DS being born was 15 hours.

Ignore any horror stories people love to glorify and everyone is different.

And yes, ask OH to !!!!!! or...... to push an orange out of his wee hole and see how easy and painful it is. :D

    Happy moneysaving all.
  • 1st baby, born on due date, 7lb 7oz, 90mins start to finish, no pain relief
2nd baby, 9 days over, 9lb 10oz, 17 mins start to finish, no pain relief
3rd baby, 12 days over, 8lb 2oz, c section (everyone failed to notice baby was breech until i went in to be started off)
it is different for everyone and i know it's easier said than done but just go with what your body is telling you :)
    Skint, but happy (ish):p

DD - 31hrs followed by emergency cs (induced as week late with large baby) 9lbs 3oz
DS - 0hrs (planned cs due to problems highlighted by first birth) 8lb 11oz (2 weeks early, lord knows how big he would of gotten if allowed to term)

My first reaction regarding your other half would be to offer to kick him in the balls and repeat same ever 20mins for a few hours before increasing the frequency til its every minute (see how much he likes the idea of that)

    Heya

My first was 7h 30 min, second 45 min, third 12h 45 min, and fourth 6 hours 15 min...wildly different as you can see :)

I did have pain relief with the first..an epidural. Absolutely nothing to it, but to be honest, I only had it because he was in distress and they thought I may need an emergency C- section.

The others were gas and air only.

The key thing is to relax.....if you tense up it just makes it harder. I used to use a birth hypnosis tape that I got as a freebie from a mother and baby magazine. It really helped me to relax and breathe as the contractions came :)

As for the symphatic pubis dysfunction thing (did I spell that right?) I had that quite badly with my fourth....I walked in a shuffle everywhere :o
When it came to the birth, i didn't even notice it. If I recall correctly, the advice then was to not give birth on your back as that position causes the most stress to the pelvis. As it was, I had a water birth and was in a squatting position.

Have you seen a physiotherapist about it? They couldn't do anything about it at that time (8 or so years ago) but they did give me advice on how to move/sleep etc which really helped.

I remember how stressful it was that first time though...I was terrified - didn't bat an eyelid at the second, third and fourth, and I'm a coward :rotfl:. Good luck, and try to enjoy your pregnancy :)
Proud to be dealing with my debts :T

  • The birth of my son was from friday 9am to tues 4.23am(11/11/2003),it was absolutly horendous,i was 2 weeks late so they decided to induce me friday by friday night they took me off the induce drug, they did that sat n sunday, monday morning they put me on a drip,i had gas n air which made me sick, had epidural which i wish i didnt as it was so painfull, they had to deliver him with forceps which they slipped, when he finally came out he had the cord round his neck 3 times they had to resusetate him,he was in the baby unit 3 days, when i went to see him he looked like hed done a round with frank bruno. He recovered fully just got a couple of scars where the forceps slipped but their fading as he gets older.;)
  • Woke up from a nap at 6:20pm feeling a bit weird, at 6:30pm contractions started every 5 minutes. Went ot the hospital, I was 3cm dilated, contractions still 5mins apart. Asked for an epidural (it didn't work grrr) so coped with gas an air. Within an hour I was fully dilated and 3 pushes later my DS was born. It was 9:20pm.

Overall, it was less than 3 hours :D

I am expecting baby n. 2, fingers crossed it will be as fast!
  • First DD took 2 hrs 44 mins (induced) Preclampsia)

Second DD took around 14 hours (natural) and SPD)

Are you going to have anyone else with you at the birth? x
